Amsoil-Arenacross-10-10-12AURORA, Ill. – The opening round of AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, set the tone for what should be an exciting season of competition as three different winners emerged from the four Arenacross Class Main Events. On the heels of back-to-back runner-up finishes over the weekend, Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki presented by Maxxis’ Zach Ames sits atop the championship standings heading into the second round of action this weekend from Baltimore. Two nights of racing inside Baltimore Arena begin Friday, January 10, and conclude Saturday, January 11.

While reigning three-time Arenacross Class Champion Tyler Bowers began the season with an impressive Main Event sweep on opening night in Worcester, Mass., he experienced misfortune aboard his Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki during each Main Event on Night Two. Ames, who challenged his teammate en route to second last Friday, capitalized on Bowers’ hard luck with another second-place performance behind Saturday night winner and Racing Kawasaki rider Michael McDade. Ames’ consistency gives last year’s championship runner-up a slim one-point advantage over McDade heading into Baltimore.

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The fifth round of AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, kicked off on Friday evening with the first of two nights of action from the Cedar Park Center. It was a dominant night for Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki presented by Maxxis’ Tyler Bowers on Friday, as the championship points leader swept each of the Main Events to claim his sixth overall victory of the year. In the Arenacross Lites Class, Ticketwow Honda’s Michael Lang capitalized on a late pass to grab the win.

As the gate dropped on the first Main Event of the Arenacross Class, Racing KTM’s Nathan Skaggs positioned himself in lead out of the first corner with Bowers and Team Faith/FLY Racing KTM’s Kelly Smith in tow. On Lap 3, Bowers made his move on Skaggs and took over the top spot. Once out front, he pulled away from the field and cruised to victory.

AURORA, Ill. – The new AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, heads to Texas this weekend with two nights of racing from Cedar Park, located minutes outside of Austin, and its second visit to the Cedar Park Center. After capturing his fifth overall victory of the season last weekend in Tulsa, Okla., Babbitt’s Monster Energy/ASMOIL Kawasaki presented by Maxxis’ Tyler Bowers will lead the field into action, carrying a 38-point lead into Friday and Saturday night.

Once again, the two Main Event format proved to play a major role in the outcome of last Saturday’s overall results. After winning his 10th Main Event of the season, Bowers was forced to overcome an eight-rider inversion heading into the second Main Event. The points leader chose an inside starting position on the second row, and Bowers emerged with a podium spot out of the first corner. After making quick work to move into second, Bowers set his sights on Mosites Motorsports Kawasaki’s Michael McDade. The duo opened a lead on the field with McDade holding off Bowers to claim his third Main Event win of the season. However, by virtue of finishing first and second, Bowers earned the overall. Bowers added to his lead in the points by claiming his second Head-to-Head Bracket Racing showdown of the season and the championship point that comes with it.

TULSA, Okla. – It was a memorable night for AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, on Saturday as Ricky Carmichael, five time Monster Energy Supercross Champion, was on hand inside the BOK Center, in Tulsa, Okla., to watch a captivating night of action won by Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki presented by Maxxis teammates Tyler Bowers, in the Arenacross Class, and Tyler Villopoto in the Arenacross Lites Class. Carmichael made his first AMSOIL Arenacross appearance of the 2013 season at the fourth stop of the championship, serving as the guest of honor for the sport’s first visit to Tulsa since the 2011 season.

Carmichael began his day by taking to the track alongside the stars of AMSOIL Arenacross in practice, laying down some hot laps and getting a sense of the highly technical abilities of these riders. After spending the afternoon in the pits with the riders and team personnel, Carmichael welcomed fans at the pre-race Monster Energy Track Party, signing autographs and taking pictures for those who attended. A little later, he brought the crowd to its feet when he officially welcomed Tulsa fans to the all new AMSOIL Arenacross with a lap around the track during opening ceremonies. After assisting with some broadcast duties during the races, Carmichael joined the riders at the post-race autograph session, thanking fans for their support of AMSOIL Arenacross.
