AMA-logo-230PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Bills that would close 9.1 million acres of Utah public land to off-highway vehicles have been introduced in Congress, the American Motorcyclist Association reports.

U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (D-N.J.) introduced H.R. 1630, and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) introduced S. 769, on April 18. Both bills are called America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act and would designate more than 9 million acres of Utah public land as Wilderness. Once land is designated as Wilderness, no vehicles, including motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles or bicycles, are allowed on that land.

Included in the 9.1 million acres are existing OHV riding areas around Moab, the San Rafael Swell and Chimney Rock. These popular OHV areas represent some of the most important remaining OHV recreation areas in Utah, and are some of the most popular with responsible OHV riders. The targeted areas also include existing roads and developments.

Salley, SC – Factory FMF/KTM rider Charlie Mullins earned his second victory of the season at the second round of the AMA National Enduro Series after winning 5 of the 6 special tests.

Mullins arrived at the location full of confidence as he was fresh off a win from the opening round. Mullins tied for the win in the first special test and went on to win the next four in a row after that. Heading into the final test he had a 1 minute and nearly 30 second lead over the rest of the field.

“I was definitely feeling confident today and my KTM 350 XC-F has been working perfectly so far this season,” remarked Mullins. “Unfortunately, I suffered two small crashes in the final test that kept me from earning a solid time in that section. After the crashes, I told myself to just relax and ride in safe so I could take home the win.”

Greensboro, GA – Factory FMF/KTM rider Charlie Mullins took the win at the opening round of the AMA National Enduro Series aboard his new KTM 350 XC-F.

Mullins made the switch to the four-stroke for the start of the National Enduro Series and it proved to be a great move for the former National Enduro Champion. He started the day off well winning the first two special tests in a dominating fashion. His big margin wins in the first two tests helped him set the pace for the remainder of the day that would eventually lead to his first victory of the season.

Never outside of the top three, Mullins finished 2nd in the third and fourth tests and then finished 3rd in the final two tests. He caught his brake pedal on a large tree root early in the fifth test which caused him to lose his rear brakes mid-way through that test. Luckily, he was still able to maintain a decent pace and finish that test inside the top three to avoid losing a large amount of time to the rest of the pack.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Staying connected to the most-thrilling indoor motorsport on Earth is now easier than ever, thanks to a new AMA Supercross app for Apple and Android smartphones. The app includes live timing and scoring, series news and historical results, the American Motorcyclist Association reports.

“AMA Supercross fans accept no less than full-throttle action on the track, so it only makes sense that they’ll want up-to-the-second data when they turn to their smartphones,” said AMA Director of Supercross Kevin Crowther. “While live and in-person is always the best way to experience AMA Supercross, the AMA Supercross app delivers all that data and more to fans who can’t make it to the track — as well as those at the stadium who want a completely immersive experience.”

In addition to live timing and scoring for each event, the official AMA Supercross app includes access to historical results, point standings, news and links to social media outlets so fans can share their excitement about AMA Supercross.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The AMA Indoor Dirt Track National Championship Series is running full throttle at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin, Ill., with tight racing and an impressive lineup of Pro and Pro-Am riders highlighting the on-track action in the Steve Nace Racing-promoted series.

“We’re having a great series with competitive racing across the board, in both motorcycle and ATV competition. These riders don’t slow down when the outside temperatures drop,” said promoter Steve Nace. “There’s a lot of exciting short-track and TT racing on the schedule through late February — not to mention an indoor, heated facility to keep the fans nice and warm — so come on out and catch some racing.”

CARLSBAD, Calif.—San Diego-based eyewear brand SPY has partnered with seven-time AMA Champion and SPY founding team rider Jeremy McGrath and Be The Match—a non-profit organization dedicated to providing bone marrow transplants to patients in need—to launch its online fundraising platform, SPY.Flipgive.com.

“Many know of my family’s recent struggles with leukemia and our work with Be The Match,” says Jeremy McGrath. “The outpouring of support has been humbling as thousands of new bone marrow donors have been registered. What Be The Match really needs now is financial support as it costs $100 to analyze each swab and add someone to the registry.”

Today, October 29, through Veteran’s Day, November 12, SPY will donate $20 for every $40 online gift certificate purchased with the goal of raising $10,000 for Be The Match.

Hurricane Mills, TN – Factory FMF/KTM rider Maria Forsberg earned her thirteenth straight win at the final round of the GNCC Series held at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. Her win at the ranch marked the end to a perfect GNCC season.

Forsberg has already set multiple records this year. Forsberg won gold at Women’s EnduroX for the second straight year at the summer X-Games. She then went on to wrap up her GNCC championship the following weekend four rounds early. Later in the season she would become the first female rider to overall the morning class in the GNCC Series. And after thirteen straight wins, she ended her season with a perfect score.

The talented factory rider has set the benchmark again for fellow women racers with the completion of the perfect season. However, her season is not done. Forsberg will head to Las Vegas, NV in mid-November to compete in the final round of the AMA EnduroCross Series where she currently leads the EnduroCross Women’s point standings. A top three finish at that event would secure another championship for Forsberg who is well on her way to a perfect year.

Maplesville, AL – Factory FMF/KTM rider Russell Bobbitt ended his season in the best way possible after capturing the win at the final AMA National Enduro round.

Bobbitt rode strong through all six special tests. Throughout the day, Bobbitt was able to earn three of the six special test wins and held the lead from the second test through the finish.

“I had a really fun time riding today,” remarked Bobbitt. “The rain helped keep what was going to be a really dusty race into perfect race conditions. There were a lot of tight sections that I really enjoyed and I am happy to walk away with the win at the end of the season.”
