Jeremy Martin managed to walk away from a crazy dirtbike crash over the weekend at the San Diego Supercross. Martin got tossed over the bars, bounced over a berm and (fortunately) landed on a tough block before bouncing back to his feet. Check out the video below:
PICKERINGTON, Ohio — With voting completed for the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2013, the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation is pleased to announce the inductees who will be formally elevated to the Hall of Fame: multi-time AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross champion Ricky Carmichael, multi-time desert racing champion Danny Hamel, K&N co-founder Norm McDonald, multi-time roadracing champion Randy Renfrow and Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation founders Mike and Dianne Traynor.
“The Greatest of All Time, an AMA and Baja racing standout, a well-known industry business veteran, a multi-talented AMA roadracer and a visionary couple of motorcyclists who started the Ride for Kids program and raised millions of dollars from fellow riders — I can’t think of a more wide-ranging and well-deserving class of inductees,” said Jeffrey V. Heininger, chairman of the AMHF, which oversees the Hall of Fame.
PICKERINGTON, Ohio — A dominant AMA Supercross and motocross champion nicknamed “The GOAT” (The Greatest Of All Time), a pair of riders who helped raise tens of millions of dollars in search of the cause of and cure for pediatric brain tumors, and a founder of one of the aftermarket’s most recognizable brands are among the motorcyclists who are on the 2013 ballot for possible elevation to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
Multi-time AMA champion Ricky Carmichael, the Ride for Kids’ Mike and Dianne Traynor, and K&N co-founder Norm McDonald are among the nominees on the 2013 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame ballot that includes racers, designers, tuners, and ambassadors for motorcycling in consideration of elevation to motorcycling’s highest honor.
Los Angeles, CA – Professional off road truck racer and seven-time AMA Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath announced today that effective immediately, he is parting ways with the Stronghold Motorsports off road truck racing team. McGrath had been a member of the pro team, running a Pro-2, since 2011. Although McGrath will not race the remainder of the stops on the 2013 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, he will be working to put together his own race program as a team owner and driver for the 2014 season. He looks forward to being back on the track in 2014 helming his own race effort.
McGrath had this to say about his departure, “First and foremost, I would like to thank all of the Stronghold team sponsors for the opportunity. I would also like to thank my sponsors, who continue to support me through all of my race endeavors. Special thanks to everyone involved in making the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series possible and to all of the incredible off road racing fans that come out month after month, season after season!”
McGrath added, “My focus has always been success on the track and being part of a program where racing and performance are the main objectives. That particular mission was not paramount at Stronghold Motorsports these past two years therefore, the reason for my current departure. I am now taking personal control of my racing future and looking forward to putting together a winning team for the 2014 season. I love the sport of off road truck racing and am very excited for this next chapter of my racing career.”
Kawasaki unveiled today its 2014 KX250F and KX450F to the world. Both bikes have seen some pretty major changes in the last few years, including more adjustability with the motor and suspension fine-tuning. The two flagships motocross bikes return for Kawasaki in 2014 with the KX250F receiving the lion’s share of upgrades for the new model year. Below is a breakdown on each model for 2014.
2014 KAWASAKI KX250F
As Kawasaki notes, no other 250cc motocross bike in the modern four-stroke era has earned more championship titles in AMA Supercross and Motocross than the Kawasaki KX250F. The KX250F features a plug-and-play adjustable ECU, a narrow frame, Separate Function Fork (SFF) fork and slim ergonomics. For 2014, the KX250F also gets a the Launch Control device introduced on the KX450F. The system adjust the ignition timing in first and second gear to help control traction and reduce wheel spin when starting on slippery surfaces. The system is controlled by pushing a button on the left handlebar of the KX250F.
CARLSBAD, Calif. — The second annual SPY Del Moto Derby Invitational—the only motocross event in San Diego County Fair history—saw Kyle Partridge take the holeshot and hold the lead from start to finish to claim the SPY Del Moto Derby crown, and the $2,500 prize in the highly contested Pro/Am Division.
“We’re so happy with the riders and fans that came out for this one-of-a-kind event,” said Kyle Krause, SPY motocross team manager. “We had some incredible racing and it was awesome to see all the kids hanging with SPY team riders McGrath, K-DUB and Barcia. You can bet we’ll be bringing the thrill of motocross racing back to the coast again next year.”
The unique San Diego County Fair venue, which sees over 90,000 visitors per day, showcased amateur and professional arena-style motocross racing in 450cc and 250cc classes, as well as 65cc and 85cc for young riders. Fans were also treated to a track walk, mini-truck race, Best Whip competition, 2-Stroke Challenge race with Jeremy McGrath, and the opportunity to test the new SPY Happy Lens™ during an all-day Happy demo. Professional motocross racers Kevin Windham, Jeremy McGrath and Justin Barcia were also on hand to sign autographs during the SPY MX athlete autograph session and cheer on their fellow SPY team riders.

Irvine, CA – The opening round of the 2013 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship, fueled by Monster Energy and presented by Lucas Oil will take place in Las Vegas this Friday, May 3rd during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross finals weekend. If you have never been to an EnduroCross, you need to get out to Las Vegas early and witness some of the most exciting racing you will ever see. The track map reveals the “usual” brutal mix of rocks, logs, sand, tractor tires, jumps, and berms that challenge the skills of the world’s best off-road motorcycle racers. Add in a water pit that makes all of the obstacles more challenging as the water gets dragged around the track and you have a recipe for crazing racing.
