Team-HRC-Rodrigues-Dakar-Motul-12-30-13POMONA, CALIFORNIA – Motul, manufacturer of world class lubricants, will once again take on the most grueling motorsport event in the world, the Dakar Rally.  The legendary race pits the world’s greatest off-road drivers against amateur competitors, Dakar often being the culmination of their life’s dreams.

The 2014 edition of the rally will run January 5 – 18 across Argentina, Bolivia and Chile and will include 34 Motul-supported entries.  The entries will compete in all four main categories – bike, quad, car and truck.  The 450 vehicles due to take the start of the rally will go on to cover 9,000 kilometers (nearly 5,600 miles) through South America.  New for 2014 is a separation of routes for 40% of the total distance for motorcycles and quads, versus that of the cars and trucks.  With safety as a driving force, five special stages have been marked out on completely separate routes covering around 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles) of timed sections.

The Dakar is the world’s greatest rally raid adventure and there is no room for any mechanical weakness. Motul has proven itself to be reliable in this arena, and its technical partners/racers will be using specially adapted lubricants, maintenance products and coolants from its Motorsport Line (Auto) and Factory Line (Moto.)  The main product is Motul’s 300V range for high performance and maximum protection. The terrain, climate and conditions endured by the Dakar’s competitors can be punishing.  From the icy cold of the mountains to the searing heat of the desert, Motul’s products must withstand every extreme in this ‘living laboratory.’

Ricky-Carmichae-2014-Arenacross-12-30-13lAURORA, Ill. – Five-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael shares his thoughts on the excitement surrounding the 2014 AMSOIL Arenacross season and the first official year of the Ricky Carmichael Road to Supercross.

“Last year’s AMSOIL Arenacross series was unbelievable coming down to the last race in Denver, man it was something exciting” said Carmichael. “With all of the amateur riders competing this year in the Road to Supercross, it’s going to be more unpredictable than ever”

On a bitter cold December day that barely got out of the twenties, mixed in with blustery winds, rain, sleet, snow, and a little sunshine, the Henderson 250 featured super hot racing for KC Dirt Tribe athletes.

KC-HiLites-Dirt-Tribe-12-30-13The Henderson 250 was the final event on the 2013 Best In The Desert calendar and things really started heating up at the Time Trials on Thursday before the race. KC Dirt Triber Rob MacCachren needed to have a great starting position and an even better race to have even a remote shot at the Trick Truck Championship. On the other hand, fellow Dirt Tribe athlete Jason Voss needed to just finish the race to cap off his incredible year with the Championship. But Jason didn’t hold anything back at qualifying as he grabbed the second starting spot by edging out Rob’s time by a scant .163 of a second. That set the stage for the race with the two drivers starting side-by-side on the second row.

When the flag dropped, MacCachren got the hole-shot on Voss off the line and immediately set his sites on the pole sitter. Near the beginning of lap three, Rob finally chased down and passed the race leader. Once he was out front, he continued his blistering pace, trying to put as many positions as possible between himself and Jason Voss. At the end, MacCachren came in first overall, beating out the second place finisher by just under 40 seconds. Jason Voss managed to come in fifth overall, fourth in class. His finish was good enough to seal up the 2013 Trick Truck Championship. In fact, KC Dirt Tribe athletes took the top three spots in the final Trick Truck standings with Rob MacCachren coming in second and Steve Olliges third.

Jason Voss, driving his Ford truck, turned out to be the year’s big winner earning his first Trick Truck Championship, the Grand Championship for the Car and Truck Classes, the Camburg “Best In The Desert” Award and the Trick Truck Challenge Cup.
