GREENVILLE, SC – BFGoodrich Tires has over a hundred teams on the lake bed sporting some kind of BFGoodrich tread pattern from the brand new Baja T/A KR2 prototype tire on reigning King Randy Slawson’s car, to teams running the more common Krawler T/A or Mud-Terrain T/A.

Saturday at King of the Hammers is a set-up day. The steady stream of vehicles coming down the dirt road seems endless.  The tents that were once empty fill up with buggies, tools and tires.  BFGoodrich is a tire of choice for many teams.

BITD-12-16-11When the 2013 Best In The Desert race season got underway at the BlueWater Resort & Casino Parker “425”, twenty-four of the world’s top Trick Truck drivers had signed up for the third annual Trick Truck Challenge. When the dust settled from the final race of the year at the recent Henderson “250”, Jason Voss claimed the 2013 Trick Truck Challenge title and the beautiful trophy that goes along with it. Jason also collected the largest share of the total bonus money paid, taking home $41,000 over the course of the year. NORRA-Mexican-1000-2014-12-30-13(Agua Dulce, Calif.,)  While the world enjoys this week’s Christmas holiday, racers and adventure seekers from many parts of the globe are looking forward to their own off-road motorsports tradition. With just 140 days left before the fifth annual General Tire NORRA Mexican 1000, event registration will open as it has for the past three years – on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2014 at exactly 12:00pm (noon) Pacific Standard Time (PST).

NORRA’S’ electronic registration process takes place entirely online to insure a fair process for those wishing to secure spots for this increasingly popular and wholly unique motorsports adventure. Early registration not only guarantees a vehicle entry, but also provides competitors with their choice of numbers, up-front Day 1 starting positions by class and a comfirmed hotel reservation for the rally’s first overnight for four-wheel vehicles in Bahia De Los Angeles (first-come, first-served).

“New Years Day is really like Christmas morning for the entire NORRA crew,” explained National Off-Road Racing Association (NORRA) President Mike Pearlman. “Last January we accepted nearly 80 entries for the 2013 rally at the dawn of a new year, and we expect to exceed that number next Wednesday. We also felt strongly that we will be hosting more than 200 vehicles at next year’s rally.”

Team-HRC-Rodrigues-Dakar-Motul-12-30-13POMONA, CALIFORNIA – Motul, manufacturer of world class lubricants, will once again take on the most grueling motorsport event in the world, the Dakar Rally.  The legendary race pits the world’s greatest off-road drivers against amateur competitors, Dakar often being the culmination of their life’s dreams.

The 2014 edition of the rally will run January 5 – 18 across Argentina, Bolivia and Chile and will include 34 Motul-supported entries.  The entries will compete in all four main categories – bike, quad, car and truck.  The 450 vehicles due to take the start of the rally will go on to cover 9,000 kilometers (nearly 5,600 miles) through South America.  New for 2014 is a separation of routes for 40% of the total distance for motorcycles and quads, versus that of the cars and trucks.  With safety as a driving force, five special stages have been marked out on completely separate routes covering around 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles) of timed sections.

The Dakar is the world’s greatest rally raid adventure and there is no room for any mechanical weakness. Motul has proven itself to be reliable in this arena, and its technical partners/racers will be using specially adapted lubricants, maintenance products and coolants from its Motorsport Line (Auto) and Factory Line (Moto.)  The main product is Motul’s 300V range for high performance and maximum protection. The terrain, climate and conditions endured by the Dakar’s competitors can be punishing.  From the icy cold of the mountains to the searing heat of the desert, Motul’s products must withstand every extreme in this ‘living laboratory.’

Ricky-Carmichae-2014-Arenacross-12-30-13lAURORA, Ill. – Five-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael shares his thoughts on the excitement surrounding the 2014 AMSOIL Arenacross season and the first official year of the Ricky Carmichael Road to Supercross.

“Last year’s AMSOIL Arenacross series was unbelievable coming down to the last race in Denver, man it was something exciting” said Carmichael. “With all of the amateur riders competing this year in the Road to Supercross, it’s going to be more unpredictable than ever”

On a bitter cold December day that barely got out of the twenties, mixed in with blustery winds, rain, sleet, snow, and a little sunshine, the Henderson 250 featured super hot racing for KC Dirt Tribe athletes.

KC-HiLites-Dirt-Tribe-12-30-13The Henderson 250 was the final event on the 2013 Best In The Desert calendar and things really started heating up at the Time Trials on Thursday before the race. KC Dirt Triber Rob MacCachren needed to have a great starting position and an even better race to have even a remote shot at the Trick Truck Championship. On the other hand, fellow Dirt Tribe athlete Jason Voss needed to just finish the race to cap off his incredible year with the Championship. But Jason didn’t hold anything back at qualifying as he grabbed the second starting spot by edging out Rob’s time by a scant .163 of a second. That set the stage for the race with the two drivers starting side-by-side on the second row.

When the flag dropped, MacCachren got the hole-shot on Voss off the line and immediately set his sites on the pole sitter. Near the beginning of lap three, Rob finally chased down and passed the race leader. Once he was out front, he continued his blistering pace, trying to put as many positions as possible between himself and Jason Voss. At the end, MacCachren came in first overall, beating out the second place finisher by just under 40 seconds. Jason Voss managed to come in fifth overall, fourth in class. His finish was good enough to seal up the 2013 Trick Truck Championship. In fact, KC Dirt Tribe athletes took the top three spots in the final Trick Truck standings with Rob MacCachren coming in second and Steve Olliges third.

BITD-2013-Season-Champions-12-30-13The Henderson “250” marked the end of another banner year for the world’s largest off-road racing series, Best In The Desert. 2013 saw tremendous growth in the popularity of Best In The Desert events with an increase in overall race entries and fan following.

When the dust had finally settled at the end of a long hard fought season consisting of six races for the Car, Truck and UTV classes, the points were added up and the 2013 Champions were named. Jason Voss, driving his Ford truck, turned out to be the year’s big winner earning his first Trick Truck Championship, the Grand Championship for the Car and Truck Classes, the Camburg “Best In The Desert” Award and the Trick Truck Challenge Cup.

The Best In The Desert Year-End Awards Ceremony was held Saturday, December 21st  at the Sunset Station in Las Vegas. The 2013 Class Champions were announced and celebrate at a banquet in their honor.

ricky-carmichael-off-road-12-23-13MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 5th Annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross once again returns to Daytona International Speedway in 2014 for the biggest two-day amateur supercross event on the planet. Following Saturday night’s Daytona Supercross by Honda, amateur racing kicks off Sunday, March 9 and continues on Monday, March 10, offering classes for racers of all ages and skill levels.

“It’s hard to believe that we’re approaching our fifth year of amateur supercross on the storied grounds of Daytona International Speedway,” said Tim Cotter, director of MX Sports. “With the help of 15-Time Champion Ricky Carmichael, we’ve built a supercross track that is suitable for all ages and skill levels, while offering that historic element of competing on the same course that the best athletes in the world competed on the night before.”

With nearly 1,000 entries last year, RCSX will once again offer two full days of amateur racing-featuring longer laps and practice time, with more class options to give racers even more track-time over the course of the weekend. Due to the expansion of racing, Ricky Carmichael University will not take place in Daytona this year.
