Pro-Comp-F-150-2015-Lift-4-17-15
Ford has redesigned the F-150 from the ground up for the 2015 model year, but even before these trucks hit dealer lots Pro Comp had already engineered a complete 6-inch suspension system that fits 35-inch tires.  The new F-150 uses aluminum in order to shed weight and increase fuel economy, and Pro Comp optimized the design of their suspension to complement the Ford’s features with new high clearance, one piece crossmembers tailored to maximize strength while reducing weight.  Ductile iron knuckles span the increased distance between the control arms with geometry designed for OEM stability control function and steering feel.

We were already aware of a 10-speed transmission being co-developed by Ford and Chevrolet, but we had not heard of any transmission possibilities featuring more gears. Ford has announced this new 10-speed will be used in the 2015 F-150 Raptor, but could there be other transmission options for its truck line in the future?

We ask these hypothetical questions after sister site AutoGuide.com recently uncovered a new patent document published on April 9th by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office suggesting that Ford may be developing an 11-speed automatic transmission.

Ford really kept the lid on its second-generation Raptor leading up to the Detroit Auto Show. Sure, there was some grumbling about a new Raptor incorporating the weight loss on the all-new 2015 F-150 thanks to its all-new aluminum body, but if anyone outside of Ford knew about it they certainly didn’t spill the beans.
