Break In Period
Most people understand that there is a factory determined break-in period for just about any new vehicle, because you don’t want to hammer too hard on a brand new engine right out of the gates. Something tells us this guy misunderstood when the dealer told him “be sure and break it in” as he pulled away in his new Chevy Silverado.

After a number of prototypes spotted over the past year, it’s finally here: Chevrolet has officially unveiled its new Colorado ZR2 off-road truck at a press event in Los Angeles tonight during the opening week of the LA Auto Show.

U.S. sales of mid-size pickup trucks jumped 54 percent in September 2016 to nearly 40,000 units.

While massive year-over-year increases in pickup truck sales can often be attributed to commensurate increases in incentives, as seen with the Ram P/U’s victory over the Chevrolet Silverado in September, mid-size pickup truck buyers are willing to pay big bucks.

Average transaction prices in the Toyota Tacoma-controlled midsize pickup truck segment last month, according to Kelley Blue Book, rose 6 percent compared with September 2015. That was by far the biggest increase for any segment in average transaction prices.

There’s no shortage of over-the-top builds at the SEMA Show ever year. What gets lost in the shuffle sometimes are the more subtle, clean off-road builds that may not stand out with flashy chrome or 20-inch suspension lifts.

Fabs Fours has built some wild concept builds in the past, but the Kymera might take the cake. Based on a 2015 Colorado, the truck was one of the many vehicles the company owned that was just sitting in its warehouse. Fab Fours CEO Greg Higgs was struck with an idea for the truck after pushing some oversized tires past it one day. He went back and sketched out his idea… and from there, Kymera was born.

Surfers love trucks for their versatility both in terms of hauling gear and helping them get to remote surf breaks. So it makes sense that Chevrolet teamed up with boardsports company Hurley for the 2016 SEMA Show to build a surf-themed Chevy Colorado Z71.

For the automotive aftermarket, SEMA is all about showing off the latest and greatest gear, and more often than not that comes in the form of vehicle builds around the Las Vegas Convention Center. There’s everything from mild to wild, but there’s also plenty of trucks and SUVs that go so far over the top that they reach a level of absurdity.

That leads us to this collection of trucks. Although fitted with suspension lifts and aftermarket wheels, in spite of the aggressive tires these trucks and Jeeps at the 2016 SEMA Show will live their lives on asphalt and never see the dirt.

If we had to pick a Chevy truck or SUV to take on the trails, the Chevy Trax wouldn’t be our first choice. That’s probably why Chevrolet looked to toughen up the compact crossover with the new Trax Active Concept, a truck it unveiled last night at a special reception prior to the start of the 2016 SEMA Show.

Chevrolet recently unveiled its newest heavy-duty concept truck for the 2016 SEMA Show, a 2017 Silverado 2500HD Carhartt concept truck built to tackle the toughest jobs.

Silverado Pre Runner Feature
It’s one thing to see guys like BJ Baldwin and Robby Gordon hucking their $250,000 trophy trucks, equipped with the best parts that sponsors can provide, off huge jumps. It’s another thing to see weekend warriors without the support and resources (not to mention the experience) doing the same.  This is an awesome video of a very nice Silverado prerunner catching some huge air.
