Off-Road-Expo-Logo-10-2-12INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The off-road nation came together last weekend at Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., to celebrate life off-road at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo powered by General Tire.

More than 73,000 fans were drawn to Southern California Oct. 1 and 2, 2016, to visit with more than 350 exhibitors showcasing the hottest products in off-road, participate in high-horsepower racing demos, meet racing celebrities and ride along on the off-road obstacle course in rigs equipped for the Rubicon Trail.

Off-Road Expo fan and industry attendance has continued to grow the last few years. With more than 10 acres of demos, exhibitors and experiences for the off-road enthusiast, Off-Road Expo is truly “Where The Off-Road Nation Comes Together.” This year’s event was the most heavily attended in years.

The inaugural All-Pro Off-Road Trail Breaker Challenge brought the top 10 competitors from around the world to tackle a slot canyon in Sand Mountain SRMA (Special Resource Management Area). The canyon has never been driven, or even thought about being driven, until Trail Hero.

2017 Jeep Compass Trailhawk

Searching for new buyers with car-based Jeeps in 2006, DaimlerChrysler assumed the more obviously car-like of the two new Jeeps, the Compass, would be more popular. Square, boxy, and later to the party, the Patriot would fill in the gaps with a more male-centric demographic.

SCORE-Logo-12-5-11ENSENADA, Mexico — After the first three of four races in the 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship, Central California father and son racers Todd and Matt Winslow lead Class 10 points and have also climbed to the top spot in the SCORE Overall point standings heading into November’s season-ending 49th SCORE Baja 1000 in Ensenada, Mexico.

From Clovis, Calif., the Winslows have earned 242 championship points after the first three races of the season in their No. 1081 Chevy-powered Alumi Craft open-wheel desert race car. The Winslows are in a tight battle in both Class 10 and in the SCORE Overall point standings.

Last month’s General Tire “Vegas to Reno” the Long Way presented by FOX saw a record entry of over 342 competitors taking on the famed long distance endurance race. Now racers will have to shift their driving styles and strategies as they switch from the longest off-road race on the Best In The Desert 2016 schedule, to the all-out sprint race of the BlueWater Desert Challenge presented by Polaris RZR, October 6-9.

Hurricane, Utah
– Trail Hero, presented by CargoGlide, is an off-road rock sports event benefiting the Utah Public Lands Alliance (UPLA) for one reason, and one reason alone: To keep our public lands accessible to the public. Sand Mountain OHV Area is in danger of closing if the BLM moves forward with a land swap. The new owner has plans to develop Sand Mountain Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA). His current property has the Mojave desert tortoise inhabiting it, which is an endangered species, and the BLM want to protect the tortoise. Sand Mountain SRMA is where Trail Hero will take place October 5 – 8, 2016.
