There’s no shortage of over-the-top builds at the SEMA Show ever year. What gets lost in the shuffle sometimes are the more subtle, clean off-road builds that may not stand out with flashy chrome or 20-inch suspension lifts.
For the automotive aftermarket, SEMA is all about showing off the latest and greatest gear, and more often than not that comes in the form of vehicle builds around the Las Vegas Convention Center. There’s everything from mild to wild, but there’s also plenty of trucks and SUVs that go so far over the top that they reach a level of absurdity.

Expanding its All Terrain X models, GMC announced today that the Duramax-powered Sierra HD will be offered for 2017. The Sierra HD All Terrain X will join the Canyon and Sierra 1500 this fall as the third model in the All Terrain X series (see our test of the Duramax Canyon in the ’16 Mid-Size Shootout).
For our 2015 Mid-Size Shootout, the Chevrolet Colorado walked away with the victory because it simply was the best all-around truck in the test. GM built a great new platform shared on both the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon to compete in the mid-size truck segment, and they jumped back in just before Toyota unveiled its new Tacoma in 2016. For the 2016 Mid-Size Truck Shootout, the GMC Canyon now gets an option 2.8L Duramax diesel engine.
Portland, OR – Bushwacker is now offering two styles of fender flares for the refreshed 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. The company’s offerings include its “OE” Style and Extend-A-Fender flares.
