The Can-Am / Murray Racing desert racing team of Derek and Jason Murray earned their first SCORE International side-by-side vehicle class championship November 20 in Baja California, Mexico. The brothers, who have raced consistently all year long, came into the round third in the class point standings. Another solid finish meant a shot at winning the Pro UTV Forced Induction (Turbo) title. The brothers, along with fellow driver Logan Gastel, earned their first SCORE International championship with their sixth-place finish at the 49th annual Baja 1000.
The Desert Toyz / Can-Am Maverick Turbo team of Cory Sappington and his brother Scott Sappington notched impressive finishes on both days at the Best In The Desert (BITD) BlueWater Desert Challenge race to capture both the side-by-side overall win and the Pro Production Turbo class victory. The Desert Toyz tandem is the first team in history to win both days at this event.
Can-Am ATV and side-by-side vehicle racers put on a dominating show at round 12 of the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) racing series, sweeping both the XC1 Pro UTV and 4×4 Pro ATV classes in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Can-Am Side-By-Side Vehicle Racing
Kyle Chaney easily won the UTV overall and XC1 Pro UTV class in his Can-Am Maverick X xc 1000R side-by-side vehicle. Chaney, the defending, two-time XC1 Pro UTV class champion, has now won the last two GNCC events. With three total victories and points from two other races this season, Chaney has climbed to within 26 points of Cody Miller for the class points lead.
After we initially teased the video last week, the Hoonigan Media Machine has formally unveiled its newest video, Battle BROyale, featuring Ken Block and BJ Baldwin and a host of other “teammates” competing in a race aboard the new Can-Am Maverick X3 side-by-side vehicle.
Without a doubt one of the most popular vehicles on display at the 2016 Sand Sports Super Show was the all new Can-Am Maverick X3. Although the vehicle was released nearly a month ago and a few lucky off-road enthusiasts were able to get behind the wheel at the Idaho UTV Invasion, the Sand Show served as the first glimpse of the new powerhouse UTV for most of the UTV community.
Hot off the heels of its new Maverick X3 unveil (which we recently drove), Can-Am Off-Road and Hoonigan have partnered on a new video called Battle Broyale that will officially launch next week. Prior to the full video unveil, the Hoonigan and Can-Am folks have offered up a teaser of the video to whet the appetite.
Can-Am recently pulled the cover off of its latest side-by-side, the Maverick X3, unveiling to the off-road world the vehicle it had been teasing over the past month. The new X3 will be offered in three different models, including the base X3, X3 X ds, and the X3 X rs, the last of which will provide up to 24 inches of suspension travel. The Maverick X3 is also headlined by its turbocharged, intercooled triple-cylinder Rotax ACE engine rated to produce 154 horsepower. Can-Am says the Maverick X3 is capable of producing a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds.
