Timing details for the new pickup truck based on the Jeep Wrangler have come into focus.

FCA shared new information with its dealers at a recent sales meeting, letting them know that the new Wrangler-based pickup truck will arrive in showrooms by April of 2019, with production expected to begin in April of 2018. Rumors point towards the truck being called the Scrambler, but this is yet to be confirmed.

FCA also told its dealers it expects economic gains this year thanks to increased availability of the redesigned Jeep Wrangler and Ram 1500.

The new truck, called the JT, will share its engine choices with the Wrangler, which means we expect a 285-horsepower V6 will be the base option while a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque will be the upgraded choice. A 3.0-liter diesel will be joining the Wrangler’s ranks in 2019, a choice that could also find its way into the truck.

Jeep recently released its batch of 2018 concepts for the Moab Easter Jeep Safari, one of which previews what the new truck will look like. The Jeep Sandstorm Concept’s custom long travel suspension won’t be arriving in a stock pickup truck anytime soon, but take a good look, as what you see here is likely going to be what the new Wranger pickup truck looks like.
