After revealing the new Silverado Performance Concept, Chevy has rolled out two new versions of its smaller Colorado.

For the first, Chevy teamed with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) to make an epic overland vehicle. Starting with the ZR2 equipped with the 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine, the truck is fitted with front and rear jounce shocks, plunging front half-shafts, a high-angle upper ball joint and increased stiffness high-angle tie rods. The truck still uses DSSV shocks from Multimatic, but they are now long-travel units and have been specially tuned for this truck.

To help it cross over anything, AEV brings new bumpers, full skidplate protection, an expedition bed rack, high clearance fender flares, a high-rise snorkel kit, DualSport beadlock wheels, 35-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires, front and rear high-output LED lighting, an ARB refrigerator, NATO-style fuel cans and even an awning in the bed.

And just in case you get stuck, recovery shackles, a hi-lift jack and a Warn 9.5xp-s winch should be able to get you out. Colorado ZR2 AEV SEMA concept, created in collaboration with leg Colorado ZR2 AEV SEMA concept, created in collaboration with leg Colorado ZR2 AEV SEMA concept, created in collaboration with leg Colorado ZR2 AEV SEMA concept, created in collaboration with leg

Chevy also brought its ZR2 race development concept truck to SEMA, essentially a standard ZR2 with a long-travel version of the stock truck’s DSSV suspension. It also comes with a 1.5-inch body lift, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires, rear shock skidplates, rear differential skid plates, a steel driveshaft, wheel spacers with extended-length wheel studs and an off-road air intake and performance exhaust.

This truck is fitted with the 3.6-liter V6 and eight-speed automatic transmission like the standard Colorado.

Although Chevy is saying it’s only a concept, the brand always watches to see the public reaction after a SEMA show, so if you want to see a ZR2 with long-travel suspension, leave a comment below.
