Ford recently issues a recall for about 52,000 2017 F-250 trucks powered by the gasoline-powered 6.2-liter V8 engine. According to Ford, certain trucks may have “unintended vehicle movement while in park,” and Ford is asking that owners of these models use the parking brake at all times when shifting the vehicle into park to help keep the vehicle stationary.

According to a press release from Ford, the affected vehicles may have a damaged park rod actuating plate that may not achieve mechanical park within the automatic transmission once the vehicle is shifted into park. Ford says if the parking brake is not applied the vehicle could move even while the truck is in the park position.

Ford notes it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

The trucks included in the recall area 2017 Ford F-250 gasoline-powered 6.2-liter vehicles built at Kentucky Assembly Plant from October 9, 2015, to March 30, 2017.

The recall involves approximately 52,608 vehicles located in North America, including 48,421 in the United States and federalized territories, and 4,143 in Canada. The Ford reference number for this recall is 17C06.

Ford says dealers will inspect and replace the park rod actuating plate as necessary at no cost to the customer.
