Ford has announced it is bringing what it hails its “smallest SUV” to the U.S. market in the new EcoSport. Until now, the EcoSport was sold practically everywhere other than the U.S. market since 2003, and it actually be built in Chennai, India and imported to the U.S.

The small Ford SUV will be powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine or a larger 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder power plant. The all-wheel drive version, which will be the trim outdoor enthusiasts will be most interested in, will come equipped with the 2.0-liter engine standard. Regardless of engine, both EcoSport models are matched with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Ford will offer four different models – S, SE, SES and Titanium – of the EcoSport. The top-of-the-line Titanium model features a boosted stereo system, while the SES model has a sport-tuned suspension and unique styling. All EcoSports feature a swing-gate-style tailgate along with 30 stowable pockets, bins and hooks. Two fast-charging USB ports are offered, along with a 12-volt outlet and a 110-volt outlet is available.
