SCORE-Baja-1000-49th-9-12-16ENSENADA, Mexico — Online racer registration is now officially open for November’s 49th SCORE Baja 1000, the iconic granddaddy of all desert races that is the season-finale of the four-race 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship.

Nearly 250 entries, from 25 countries and 40 U.S. States are expected to compete in this year’s 49th SCORE Baja 1000. The race week festivities will cover Nov. 15-20, with the race and all ancillary events starting and finishing in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

It will be a loop race this year of approximately 840 miles with the start line and finish line adjacent to the landmark Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in the heart of Ensenada and the first and last several spectator-friendly miles running up and back down the Ensenada Arroyo.

This year marks the 42nd time the race will start in Ensenada and the 24th time that it will finish in Ensenada as well.

START DRAW
The drawing for starting positions, by class, for all classes except SCORE Trophy Truck and Class 1, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Entry registration for the race is available at Register Here for Race.
Deadline to enter in time for the Oct. 18 drawing for start positions is 10 p.m. (PT) on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Late entries received after the drawing will be placed by class in the next available starting position following those that entered in time for the random draw.

The results of qualifying for SCORE Trophy Truck and Class 1 will be announced at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at the SEMA SCORE Baja 1000 Experience at the SEMA Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

PRE-RUNNING
Teams will be allowed to begin pre-running or practicing on the race course starting on Saturday, Oct. 29 starting from Ojos Negros as the section from the start to Ojos Negros will be restricted.

BEFORE BAJA… VIVA LAS VEGAS!
Helping to jumpstart the festivities for the SCORE Baja 1000 for the third straight year will be the massive SEMA SCORE Baja 1000 Experience at the Las Vegas Convention Center (Oct. 31-Nov. 4) and the special SCORE Baja 1000 qualifying for SCORE Trophy Trucks and unlimited Class 1 open-wheelers. With both events presented by BFGoodrich Tires, qualifying will be held at the Off-Road track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (7 p.m. PT, Tuesday, Nov. 1).

SCORE Trophy Trucks and unlimited Class 1 vehicles will be part of the massive display at the week-long SEMA SCORE Baja 1000 Experience.

BEFORE VEGAS… OFF-ROAD EXPO!
SCORE International’s SCORE World Desert Championship will continue to have a major impact at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo at the Fairplex, in Pomona, Calif., to be held Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2, the extensive SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit area in Building 5 will once again offer desert-racing fans the opportunity to interact with the top desert racing teams in the world while viewing the most radical motorsports vehicles ever developed.
In addition to showcasing current SCORE desert racing vehicles, drivers and sponsors, the SCORE Baja 1000 official course map for the race will be unveiled by SCORE officials at 3 p.m. (PT) on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Crowd favorite autograph sessions will also be taking place on both Oct. 1 & 2 with many of the stars of the sport, both past and present who have built their legacy in the SCORE Baja 1000.

PRE-GREEN
The SCORE Baja 1000 race week festivities will cover Nov. 15-20.

Pre-race festivities on Thursday (Nov. 17) for the SCORE Baja 1000, including the vastly popular tech and contingency of all vehicles and the SCORE Manufacturer’s Midway will be held on Boulevard Costero in front of the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center.  Contingency will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and pre-race tech will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The pre-race mandatory driver/rider briefing will also be held on Thursday (Nov. 17) at 7 p.m. PT in the Cathedral Room at the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center.

Racer registration will be held in the Red Room at the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada. Racer registration will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT on Tuesday (Nov. 15), from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. PT on Wednesday (Nov. 16) and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT on Thursday (Nov. 17). Media registration will be held as well in the Red Room at the Riviera from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. PT on Wednesday (Nov. 16), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT on Thursday (Nov. 17) and the BFGoodrich Tires/Baja California Secretary of Tourism SCORE Media Center will be open on Friday at 5:30 a.m. PT until the course closes at approximately 11 p.m. PT on Saturday (Nov. 19) and will re-open on Sunday (Nov. 20) from seven a.m. until Noon PT.

SCORE sponsor Monster Energy will announce details regarding their special pre-race parties in the near future.

POST GREEN
As the celebration continues all-night on Friday (Nov. 18), all day and evening on Saturday (Nov. 19) while official finishers cross the line and tales are added to the legacy of the event, the post-race awards fiesta will be held in the Cathedral Room at the Riviera starting at 10 a.m. PT on Sunday (Nov. 20).

BEFORE THE ‘MIL’…ROSARITO BEACH
Round 3 of the four-race SCORE World Desert Championship will be this week’s Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge.  While the unique-format, multi-day lap race split into sessions will be held for the 20th time, this will be the first time in its legendary history that SCORE has ever produced a race in the Rosarito Beach area.
