Bryce Menzies prepares for his upcoming project “New Frontier” at Thunderhorse Ranch in Campo, California, USA on June 10, 2016

Desert and short-course off-road racer Bryce Menzies will be using his Pro 2 race truck for something other than racing next month, as he will attempt a 300-foot off-road jump in a ghost town in the Southwest next month. The event is supported by his sponsors Red Bull and Pennzoil, and in a formal press release testing the event the jump is described as symbolizing “both the progression of his career and his leap into international racing.”

The event, which as a formal name of “Bryce Menzies New Frontier powered by Pennzoil Synthetics,” will air live on Red Bull TV in late August on the 27th at 3 p.m. EST, 12 p.m. PST, which will be followed up the next day with a behind-the-scenes piece on NBC.

“I had the idea for this jump because it’s just something that I’ve always wanted to do,” Menzies said. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved jumping things – dirt bikes, buggies, whatever. And as an adult, I’ve really wanted to see how far I could jump my race truck. We race all the time, but we never get to come play on jumps like this, so it’s awesome that Red Bull and Pennzoil are behind me and making this whole thing possible. I’m just looking forward to doing it and really having fun in the process.”

Menzies will drive his two-wheel drive Pro 2 truck for the event, using every bit of the 900 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque the race engine delivers to power him over the ghost town jump in an effort to beat the 332-foot record currently set for the longest off-road jump.

The event also looks to bring exposure to Menzies’ race efforts outside of the U.S. after competing at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in April where he earned 4th place. Although he’s really only been racing since 2007, Menzies has amassed an impressive   number of results thus far, including three Baja 500 win, a Mint 400 victory, three TORC Pro 2 Championships, and also two Red Bull Frozen Rush wins.
