Moab is bustling with all things Jeep, and to kick off the 50th Anniversary Easter Jeep Safari we tackled Strike Ravine with WARN, ARB, Skyjacker and invited guests for a day of adventure.

The day started in Moab, and it has been a bit brisk in the mornings, so our 8:00 a.m. meetup time actually had temperatures in the 20s! Not to worry, by the end of the day we were in the 70s.

Strike Ravine is a moderate-rated trail 13 miles east of Moab, and it meanders the hillsides south east of town, crosses onto Area BFE, climbs toward the La Sal mountains, then drops back into Area BFE at the exit. It consists of approximately 6.2 miles of trail with one moderately difficult obstacle consisting of a dirt hill climb with medium boulders strewn across it. The hill is called Big Ugly, and it is capable with or without lockers, depending on the driver and off-road savvy (or lack of).  Overall, Strike Ravine trail takes about 4 hours to complete.

Our group consisted of vehicles of every form, from the WARN Brute, a Land Cruiser, a ZJ, a RZR, Bruiser Conversion JK8, buggies and JKs. Even more impressive was our lineup of drivers: Shannon Campbell, Wayland Campbell, Jessi Combs were all on our Sunday adventure.

Jessi Combs joined us in the Savvy buggy in which she won the King of the Hammers Everyman Challenge in February.

WARN lead the way in their silver Brute that walked over and up everything with ease. The ARB and Skyjacker JKs demonstrated their suspension and very comfortable ride quality on the road and on the trail.  ARB was also kind enough to bring ice cream bars in one of their fridge/freezers as an end-of-trail treat! Delicious!

Strike Ravine is a great day trip trail. To get to the trailhead, take highway 191 south toward Monticello for approximately 13 miles and turn left at the bottom of the two-lane passing hill on 191. This is your trailhead.  The trail is not that difficult but very scenic. Enjoy the trail and take plenty of water and sunscreen!

We will bring you more coverage of trails, Jeeps, and EJS as the week continues.
