(Agua Dulce, Calif.):
After taking part in a legendary rally like NORRA’s Mexican 1000, it’s fitting that the awards ceremony is equally as celebrated. Navigating the length of the Baja Peninsula on your motorcycle, in your UTV, vintage race vehicle or modern race car demands a festive moment to relax, rejoice with new friends and old, and to bask in the accolades you have earned.

Mexican 1000 celebrations have progressed from a few shots of tequila in a dusty cantina to extravagant affairs in luxurious surroundings. This year’s event will be back for the third year at the Grand Mayan Resort. Hurricane Odile brought devastation to the San Jose Del Cabo area last year and the Grand Mayan was completing repairs. It will still be familiar to many, but the resort has been completely refurbished to be more impressive than ever before.

The Grand Mayan is primarily a time share and therefore there are no rooms available to rent. However, there are several hotels (most all-inclusive) within walking distance to the Grand Mayan.  Contact Juan Carlos of Baja Voyager for suggestions and reservations: www.bajavoyager.com. The resort has a maximum number of guests allowed and we will have around 1000, so we urge everyone to buy tickets during online registration or in Ensenada. We cannot guarantee that tickets will be available in San Jose Del Cabo.

Don’t miss out on the festivities at the awards ceremony. NORRA’s post Mexican 1000 Driver’s Awards parties have been a tradition since the sport’s earliest days. You will walk down the red carpet when you arrive to find food stations, a full bar including Azunia Tequila margaritas, live music and special awards presentations. It’s all capped off with huge fireworks show right on the beach. We look forward to seeing you there!

The inaugural Mexican 1000 was held in 1967.
