Corona, CA – Racers, teams and fans have been busy in the brief off season prepping for what is sure to be another outstanding year of grassroots racing as the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series kicks off later this month with events in two states. The Arizona series will get the 2016 regional season started in Chandler with two rounds of racing on February 13-14th, while the California series will get started later in the month at the world famous Glen Helen Raceway with Round 1 on February 27th. The always popular Utah regional series will join in on the action later in the year, starting their season on May 14th at the newly renamed Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele.
“We are so excited to start another season of competitive and fun short course racing,” said Regional Series Director Lee Perfect. “When these series started, we never expected them to take off like they have. We have enjoyed unprecedented growth over the last several years, with a 427% increase in spectators and a 482% increase in drivers. We are excited to see those numbers continue to rise in 2016 as we see more and more drivers, teams, entire families and sponsors interested in joining the grassroots racing movement. 2016 is sure to bring some exciting new developments for racers and fans and a new level of family friendly, safe, affordable competition to all 3 of our regional series. With the addition of the Polaris RZR 170 class at select events, we are going to see racers as young as 6 years old out there getting their start, learning from the pros that have been out there for years.”
