Jessi Combs and Savvy Off Road are joining forces to tackle the 2016 King of the Hammers (KOH) Every Man Challenge (EMC) race event held in Johnson Valley California, and they launched their campaign and 2016 Savvy Jeep at the 2015 Speciality Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show today.

Combs, a successful racer, metal fabricator and television show host, will be joined in the car by new co-driver, Martin Castro, general manager for Savvy Off Road, when they tackle the notoriously brutal event next year.

The duo will be racing the 2016 version of the Savvy Off Road Jeep, which has already claimed four KOH titles with Savvy Off Road CEO Gerald Lee and John Currie at the helm.

“John [Currie] and I really enjoyed our time racing in the King of the Hammers event, although it was time to hand over the reigns to someone new. We specifically chose Jessi and Martin because we truly believe they’ll make a formidable and dedicated team,” says Lee.

Lee adds that the pair both bring different areas of expertise to the car which will be vital if they want to get a good result.

“Jessi is obviously a highly accomplished driver after winning different events and even setting a land speed record. She’s also a talented fabricator and while we hope we won’t need those skills during the event, it is really helpful to have as a backup,” explains Lee.

“Plus Martin knows the car inside and out, so should anything need adjusting, fixing or repairing, he’ll know exactly what that might be and how to handle it in the most efficient way possible. He’s also a very good communicator and I trust him completely. They will make an awesome team.”

Both Combs and Castro are excited about the challenge and can’t wait to show fans the car in its brand new livery.

“I am so stoked to be given this incredible opportunity to race in the Savvy Off Road Jeep. Gerald [Lee], Martin [Castro] and our awesome mechanic Johnny [Rocha] are the best team to work with and I know they are giving me a great car to drive,” says Combs.

“When the opportunity came up, I simply had to make it happen. This team has inspired me for many years with their ethics and winning formula so I am extremely honored to be their chosen driver for the next KOH,” explains Combs.

The Savvy Off Road team decided to launch their campaign at SEMA as they all have a long association with the event and saw it as the perfect opportunity to meet with their loyal supporters and show off the car at the BF Goodrich booth.

The 2016 King of the Hammers event takes place in Johnson Valley from January 31 until February 5, 2016. Keep up to date with the team’s progress by visiting or via Jessi’s Facebook page
