1-TRD-Like-A-Pro-Toyota-Tundra-9-8-15
Over a year ago, Toyota unveiled its TRD Pro lineup of 2015 models for the first time. Its new TRD Pro packages, hailed as Toyota’s most capable off-roaders to date, upped the ante in capability for its Tundra, 4Runner and Tacoma. Although the vehicles have been a big hit, Toyota built less than 10,000 units between the three models, and that has made the limited run of popular units hard to come by.

For Tundra fans unable to get their hands on a TRD Pro, or for those who recently purchased a 2014 or ’15 Tundra and want to upgrade theirs in the same fashion, the plan was to build a Tundra TRD Pro using the same parts used on the production version. Believer it or not, adding the TRD parts to the Toyota is probably not as complicated as you think. Toyota focuses on the quality and not so much the quantity of the parts used on the TRD Pros. What’s more, these TRD parts are available from any Toyota dealership and can be installed there or at any quality off-road shop.

With the goal set, a 2014 Tundra Limited equipped with the standard TRD Off-Road package was acquired, and Toyota provided all of the necessary TRD Pro parts for the upgrade, and we headed out to SoCal SuperTrucks in San Bernardino, California, to get everything installed. The parts list for the build includes:

-TRD Bilstein 2.5-inch front Coilover shocks featuring TRD-tuned Eibach springs
-TRD Bilstein 2.5-inch rear remote-reservoir shocks
-18” TRD Black Alloy Wheels w/Michelin LTX AT2 tires
– TRD Front Skid Plate
– TRD Dual Cat-Back Exhaust
– TRD Pro Black Grille
– Black Bezel Headlamps
– TRD Pro Shift Lever/TRD Pro Mats

For a direct comparison, Toyota provided us with a 2015 Tundra TRD Pro and we headed out to the desert to compare the freshly built truck with one that came off the production line. Check out the video below for the complete story and recap.
