Crandon-Labor-Day-Weekend-Off-Road-8-24-15

CRANDON, WISC. – In preparation for hosting the oldest and most prestigious stadium-style off-road races in the world, Crandon International Raceway today released its official action-packed Labor Day weekend schedule.

Representing what many call the sport’s “Indianapolis 500,” for tens of thousands of fun-loving race fans the  end-of-summer trek to the Wisconsin Northwoods is a “can’t miss” tradition. For 2015, guests to the 400-acre “Big House” can look forward to a jam-packed, three-day schedule of great racing, rich tradition and on-site entertainment that make up the unforgettable “Crandon Experience.”

Crandon’s custom wrought iron gates will open to welcome visitors on Wednesday, September 2nd at precisely 12:00 noon (EST). The facility’s massive grounds feature nearly 2,000 manicured grass campsites, many of which are reserved months in advance. While track management expects another sell-out for campsites, those remaining will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Daily parking and admission tickets are also available at the gate.

The weekend officially kicks off on Friday, September 4th in downtown Crandon with the Pit Crew Competition starting at 9:30am. All of the weekend’s The Off Road Championship (TORC) Pro and Crandon Sportsman class cars and drivers will line the streets of the small Wisconsin community to interact with fans just prior to the 46th Anniversary World Championship Labor Day Parade. A perfect slice of authentic Americana, the parade is a beloved Crandon tradition.

After taking the mile-long drive back to Crandon International Raceway, competitors will begin preparing for the Forest County Potawatomi “Friday Night of Thunder.” This special event will include TORC Pro class practice, Crandon Sportsman practice as well as special racer for the Brew Pub Short Course Karts, the Lincoln Electric 1600 buggies and the modified Trophy Kart class. At 8:00pm race fans will enjoy a live concert at the Monster Energy stage courtesy of the Road Trip band.

Saturday will be a busy day with a full slate of TORC Pro and Crandon Sportsman and Pro classes. Competitors from across the country and Canada will go wheel-to-wheel to to earn themselves a coveted World Champion® title. Sportsman classes include; Parsons Classix, Londerville Steel Stock Truck, Auto Gear Pizza 1600 Light Buggy, Miller Light Limited 4, MasterCraft Safety Formula 4×4, Mt. Dew Super Stock Truck, Brew Pub Short Course Karts, Trigs Smoke House Super Buggy and the Country Hearth Super Truck.

The exciting TORC PRO Light, PRO 2WD AND PRO 4×4 clases will end the day of racing, giving way to Wisconsin-based Vic Ferrari Band – another popular Crandon Labor Day weekend institution.

On Sunday, the weekend will culminate with more competition and series’ championships crowned in the Sportsman and PRO Light truck categories. The finale will see TORC’s PRO 2WD and PRO 4×4 classes let loose on the track at the same time after receiving staggered starts for the 6th Annual Amsoil Cup Challenge race.
