Scott Douglas and his team headed to Bark River, Michigan looking to get back to some very familiar ground as the team looked to regain their momentum for the stretch run of the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL. The weekend in Bark River brought the results that the team can definitely build on heading into Championship Weekend in Crandon.

The time in Bark River saw the team experience very hot, very sunny and humid weather conditions. Yet the Bark River track crew kept the racetrack in near ideal race conditions all weekend long. The first time competitors were on the track was early Friday evening for an extended practice session. Early on Scott Douglas turned a coupe of solid laps when a torque converter issue put the Douglas Motorsports team into action replacing the damaged parts and preparing for Saturday morning qualifying.

Saturday morning saw another mechanical issue prevent the #7 AMSOIL Borla Exhaust Cooper Tire Walker Evans Racing PRO-4 from making a solid qualifying pass. Once again Dan Sunderland and the crew went into overdrive ensuring that Scott Douglas would have a race truck ready for the afternoon Round 13 race.

The Saturday race grid inversion put Douglas start at the tail end of the field. Undaunted with the starting position, the Southern California native was confident the crew had given him a fast race truck.

The start of the ten-lap race had Douglas setting into fourth place and waiting for after the mandatory caution to begin the charge to the front. The second half of the race saw Scott make a bold move to pass Chad Hord and them his had his eyes set on Johnny Greaves. The #7 AMSOIL PRO-4 was right on Greaves’ rear bumper when USAC officials radioed he would have to serve a stop and go penalty for being too aggressive when drove past Hord.

A lap later the white and black truck served the penalty and then reentered the race to finish a frustrating fourth place.

Afterwards Douglas expressed his frustration, “I’ve been on the other end of deals like this and there wasn’t a call made. Yes it was aggressive, but I went for an opening when the other driver decided to comeback across to try to close it off. The officials just decided to start making calls. Regardless our truck was fast and we will be ready for tomorrow.”

The next day Douglas and his team came back strong to finish on the podium in third place.

“I’m really proud of my team this weekend,” commented Scott Douglas. “We overcame a variety of adversity and continued to pick up speed all weekend. The truck is fast, but I have to give the Greaves group credit, they are just a bit quicker right now. We have a few weeks to get our Crandon set-up perfected and I know with all the support we have from our partners, Douglas Motorsports plans on running at the front of the pack during the Labor Day weekend.”

The final event on the TORC schedule for Douglas Motorsports is the “Keys to the Big House” happening September 4-7, 2015.
