CRANDON, WISC.
– For nearly five decades, the Labor Day off-road racing tradition at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Wisconsin has represented the sport’s “Indianapolis 500.” It’s falls on a major summer weekend. It’s a true Midwest tradition. There are huge crowds. It’s a true and organic piece of motorsports Americana.

Perhaps most importantly to the world-class field of entries expected to take the green flag for the all-or-nothing 6th Annual Amsoil Challenge Cup race is the $56,500 in cash and other $3,000 in products awaiting the winners of Crandon’s weekend finale. As is tradition, this prize package represents the largest payday in short-course off-road racing, with the winner taking home $46,000 in cash alone. The big race will see TORC’s (The Off Road Championship) PRO 2WD and PRO 4×4 classes let loose on the track at the same time after receiving staggered starts.

A popular new Crandon tradition with racers is an American made, custom gold-plated Henry rifle that the Amsoil Cup winner will also take home.

Indeed, Crandon’s Labor Day spectacle isn’t called the “Off-Road World Championships® ” for no reason.

Last year California racer Kyle LeDuc made his trip back east worthwhile as he “outgunned” local favorites Johnny Greaves and son CJ Greaves in a nail-biting Amsoil Cup finale.

The massive 400-acre, purpose-built Crandon International facility is located two hours northwest of Green Bay, Wisconsin. With 2,000 camping spots expected to be pre-sold and thousands more spectators filing through the track’s entrances for three days of racing, in 2015 officials are working hard to insure the facility lives up to its reputation as the “Big House.” Last year, the track set a single-day attendance record with 20,000 guests watching Sunday’s action. Up to 45,000 race fans are expected to soak in the “Crandon Experience” over the entire Labor Day weekend.

Gates will open Wednesday, September 2nd for campers excited to get to Crandon’s grassy camp and prepare for an action-packed racing by day and the event’s highly-popular concerts and colorful parties by night. The weekend officially kicks-off on Friday, September 4th at 9:30 a.m. with the Pit Crew Competition and 46th Anniversary World Championship Labor Day Parade in downtown Crandon. Later, 13 different classes including the crowd favorite “Trophy Kart” category hit the dirt for practice, qualifying and racing as part of the track’s “Friday Night of Thunder” races. At 8:30pm the Crandon crowd will enjoy a live concert by the band “Road Trip.”

Saturday will see a full slate of Sportsman and Pro class  competition as drivers from across the country and Canada vie to become a Crandon Off-Road World Champion®  – an official title bestowed to each of the day’s class winners. Wisconsin’s own seven-member Vic Ferrari Band will again entertain the crowd that evening – a highly popular Crandon Labor Day weekend tradition.

On Sunday, the weekend will culminate with more competition and series’ championships crowned in the Sportsman and PRO Light truck categories. The finale will see TORC’s PRO 2WD and PRO 4×4 classes let loose on the track at the same time after receiving staggered starts for the 6th Annual Amsoil Cup Challenge race.
