ST. LOUIS — After days of inclement weather that included a wash out of Saturday’s action, TORC: The Off-Road Championship Presented by AMSOIL gave fans of the new Gateway Motorsports Park Dirtplex everything they could’ve asked for in more with a Rumble at the River doubleheader Sunday. The day saw a double dose of father-son victories and a new PRO 4WD winner.

PRO Light kicked off the action at 10 a.m. In his first year doing double duty in PRO Light and PRO 2WD, Doug Mittag stood atop the box in his second PRO Light event of 2015. In the first of two races at the Gateway Motorsports Park Dirtplex, Mittag earned a dominating win over second-place Shawn Morris and third-place Cam Reimers. Texas race winner Kyle Hart and Luke Johnson were in the top three for most of the race, but fell back late in the round as Morris was consistently strong. Reimers was mid-pack in the beginning, but found his way to his first podium of the season after a late-race surge.

The same PRO 2WD top four from Texas was the top four in Rd. 3 at Gateway Sunday as CJ Greaves dominated again with Keegan Kincaid and Marty Hart rounding out the podium. Arie Luyendyk Jr., in one of the most aggressive races of his off-road career, came back from dead last after a Lap 1 mishap to finish fourth. It was a physical battle between Kincaid, a PRO 2WD rookie, and Hart, the 2010 PRO Light champion, with both chatting amicably about it prior to the awards presentation.

What looked like another runaway win for Scott Douglas turned into the first win of the season for three-time and defending PRO 4WD champion Johnny Greaves. Douglas led early, but faded away at the competition caution after losing a front differential. The best battle of the morning took place between CJ Greaves and Mike Jenkins, both of whom neither gave nor asked for quarter with Jenkins finishing outside the podium in fourth with no livery remaining on his truck. The surprise of the race was PRO 4WD rookie Chad Hord making a daring move from fourth to second after the competition caution, earning his first class podium finish.

In Rd. 4 of the TORC Series’ championship points chase, Kyle Hart earned his second PRO Light victory in three rounds as he dominated the pack during the second race of the day at Gateway Motorsports Park’s Dirtplex Sunday. Doug Mittag earned runner-up honors while Cam Reimers took his second third-place trophy of the day. It was back-and-forth between Reimers and Shawn Morris, who finished second to Mittag earlier in the day.

Following his son’s lead in PRO Light, Marty Hart took his first PRO 2WD victory of the year putting the Harts up there with the Greaves as father-son victory tandems. CJ Greaves was battling Hart for the lead late in the race when contact was made near the start-finish line, spinning the defending champ out and relegating him to a third-place finish. It was a chilly Winners Circle as the two had words with promises of hard racing in the future. Keegan Kincaid earned his third-straight runner-up finish in the class.

CJ Greaves earned his fourth podium, his second victory, and his first-ever PRO 4WD victory in the final race of the day, edging out his dad and 2014 PRO 2WD rival Chad Hord. Mike Jenkins led for much of the first half of the race until the front shock tower broke off going into the whoops section and the entire front end came apart. Jenkins was OK, but was unable to finish the race. Scott Douglas once again started out strong, but mechanical woes relegated him to a fourth-place finish.
