– The SCORE International Baja 1000 (B1K), is known as the granddaddy of off-road racing. It started as a mere challenge to see who could get to La Paz in the shortest possible time and has turned into one of the most grueling and competitive races on earth. Several drivers have won multiple times; a few have done it back to back. No single driver has won three straight. That is the challenge that lies ahead for BJ Baldwin. BJ has won back to back in his Monster Energy, Toyo Tires, Hoonigan, Method Race Wheels, King Shocks, Rigid Industries and Red Kap Work Clothes Trophy Truck; driving the entire race without relief. At the 47th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, he will be out to make history with his third straight win.

“I’ve been concentrating on nutrition and training very hard to win this race,” BJ said. “I have a truck under me that is capable of winning and I know what it takes physically and mentally to do this. Just because nobody has done it before doesn’t mean it can’t be done. The bigger the challenge, the higher you set your goals, the harder you have to work to accomplish them. It makes it that much sweeter when you get it done.”

BJ will be battling several teams made up of multiple drivers. They will be well rested when they get in their trucks and only have to do a small portion of the course. BJ will have to pre-run and memorize the entire race course. He will have no breaks and no relief. He must maintain a blistering pace for the entire 1,275 miles.

BJ’s pursuit began in Las Vegas at the SEMA Show. His Monster Energy Chevrolet Trophy Trucks and prerunner were on display in the Toyo Tires and SCORE Baja 1000 Experience booths during the show. Qualifying for the B1K was held on a specially constructed course just outside of SEMA at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway; BJ qualified a strong third place for the race. BJ is now heading south to the 47th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 Nov. 12-16 in Ensenada, BC Mexico to complete his historic quest for three wins in a row.
