IRVINE, Calif. – The GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship race format includes an exciting “Hot Lap” showdown for the top six pro riders, putting them on the track, one-at-a-time for a sprint lap against the clock. The fastest of the fast get first gate picks and a bonus championship point to boot. For the upcoming Atlanta round, Girardi Wealth Management decided to up the ante by posting a $2,000 bonus to the rider that sets the fastest time.

“Mike Girardi has been involved in EnduroCross for years and is always looking for ways to add to the excitement for the riders and fans” said Lance Bryson, Sales and Marketing Manager for EnduroCross. “Mike is an avid off-road rider himself and really appreciates the skills of the riders and uses EnduroCross to create awareness for his business. Plus, adding a cash incentive will have the top EnduroCross riders pushing even harder for that fast time.”

Girradi has plenty of riders worthy of his new prize. History would suggest that Lucas Oil, Rockstar JCR Honda’s Colton Haaker is the best bet going into Atlanta. So far, he has set the fast time both in Las Vegas and Sacramento this year. But with Taddy Blazusiak, Mike Brown and point’s leader Cody Webb in the field, you can be sure winning will take a perfect lap. Don’t forget FMF KTM Off-Road’s Kailub Russell (the current GNCC champion). Russell will be competing in his first EnduroCross and would love to steal the thunder (and cash) from the regulars.

The Atlanta round, hosted at the air-conditioned Gwinnett Center on Saturday, August 23rd, is the first EnduroCross to visit the East Coast of the U.S. since 2009 and with the event taking place during the summer break for the GNCC and National Enduro Championships, the Atlanta event will provide a welcome opportunity to race.

Not a pro and think you can tame the EnduroCross obstacles? Then come on out and compete in the Open Amateur, Vet 35+ or TrialsCross classes. EnduroCross veteran Destry Abbott will host a “Rookies” training session on Friday night before the event to provide one hour of track time and tips for riders that have never raced an EnduroCross. Don’t miss it!
