Toyo Tires will launch its all-new Open Country R/T in the first part of September 2014. It will be the first Toyo tire fully made in North America at its plant in Georgia.

Toyo Tires pulled the cover off its new off-road tire recently – but only a little bit. Off-Road.com was recently invited to get an early look at its newest off-road tire, the Open Country R/T, which won’t be available in dealers until September of this year.

The tread design of the R/T features an aggressive look that blends style elements of both the A/T II and M/T. We’re curious to see how it performs on the dirt and the pavement.

The Open Country R/T will be situated in the Toyo Tires lineup just between its popular A/T II all-terrain tire and its M/T mud-terrain tire, offering buyers a truck and SUV tire that is still very aggressive for off-roading while providing great on-road characteristics. The new tire, which will be the first Toyo tire fully made in the U.S., certainly has our interest piqued, as it blends together a tread design inspired by both the A/T and M/T.

We’ll be getting our hands on a set of the new R/Ts to check out first hand and will have a full report near the tire’s launch date in early September. Be sure to check back for a full report and review on the R/T in the coming weeks.
