Mammoth-Motocross-Kawasaki-7-1-14
At more than 10,000 feet above sea level, the annual Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross got underway with their Mini Days on June 24-25 in Mammoth Lakes, California. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green kicked off the first of two days on Tuesday winning five of the seven finals putting the KX™65, KX™85, and KX™100 on top of the podium. On the second day, Team Green showed complete domination by winning all seven finals, giving Team Green seven AMA No.1 championship plates and a total of 19 big bear trophies. Team Green’s youngest rider Jett Reynolds led the team as he won seven of eight motos, six big bears, and two championship plates on his KX65.

Team Green’s success continued on to the 85cc classes as Stilez Robertson won the Mini Sr 2 (9-14) championship on his KX85. Stilez was ecstatic as he won the class on both days even though he is one of the younger riders in the age group. In addition, Robertson won the 85cc 9-11 class on Wednesday giving him the overall championship and Garrett Marchbanks did the same in the Mini Sr 1 (12-13) class.

Capping off the Mini classes was the talent-stacked Supermini classes. Austin Forkner was the one to beat on Tuesday as he won both Supermini classes on his KX100, but his teammate Sean Cantrell was close on his heels. On Wednesday, both riders wanted to claim the top spot and even banged bars a few times in their division races. In the finals, Forkner came out on top in Supermini 1, while Cantrell grabbed the holeshot and ran away with the Supermini 2 championship.

Mammoth Motocross now makes the transition from mini bikes to big bikes as the national continues into the weekend. Racing will resume on Friday with Open class racing followed by 250cc racing on Saturday, and 450cc racing on Sunday. Team Green looks to continue their success as Chris Alldredge, Nick Gaines, Blake Green, Mitchell Harrison, Tristan Miller, and Mark Worth are gunning to take home some big bears of their own.
