Ensenada, Baja California – In a class that is usually won by seconds or less, winning by nearly an hour is mind-blowing. 1/2- 1600 racers David Ruvalcaba and Steve Cruz literally left their competition in the dust at the 46th Tecate SCORE Baja 500. The two racers had a flawless day with David starting the car and then handing it over to Steve with a 12 minute lead over second place. Steve took that lead and continued to build on it. “Our race went really well,” says Steve, “We had no issues with the car, not even a flat tire. We had a light knocked out by a rock and had to wait out a couple of bottlenecks but the car was fast; it was flawless.”

Everyone is aware of the power and reliability afforded them by their Major Performance racing engine but they also had excellent prep services completed by Major as well. “We started getting our engines from Andy (Devercelly) last year,” says Steve, “When we saw the quality and the care they took, we decided to let Andy and Steve Downing do a complete prep on the car. Steve has a lot of experience in 1600; he did a great job, it was a good move for us.”
