Brian-Deegan-Reno-6-5-14
SPARKS, NV:
No matter what sport they take on, the #38 Rockstar Energy / Makita / Ford team finds its way to the podium time and again. Brian Deegan switched helmets from Rallycross to the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series last weekend as the trucks took on Wild West Motorsports Park near Reno, Nevada. Here Deegan had to pull on his years of experience and talent to navigate conditions that were often tricky. His mastery behind the wheel paid off as the #38 Rockstar Energy/Makita Ford swept the weekend in Pro 2.

For the fifth time in the five rounds of the 2014 season, Deegan captured the pole in Pro 2 on Friday night. He also scored the inside starting position and got the early lead, which he never relinquished. Although Rob MacCachren gave a valiant effort to take over the lead, Deegan held his lines perfectly, never giving MacCachren an opportunity to pass. Deegan remained in the lead for the checkered flag.

Deegan qualified second in Round 5 of Pro Lites class. Although he started from the outside row, he got into a good position quickly and took the early lead. Most of the competition battled each other behind him, but RJ Anderson challenged Deegan for the lead. Unfortunately, on lap 15 Deegan bicycled in turn 2. Anderson took advantage of this opportunity to take over the lead. Deegan came back to briefly retake the lead, but Anderson managed to get back around and Deegan would come in a close second.

On Saturday Deegan would make it a sweep in Pro 2. Despite constant scuffles that led to five trucks being unable to finish the race, Deegan emerged virtually unscathed, running ahead of the fray. The #38 Rockstar Energy / Makita Ford would take the win and lengthen the team’s points lead in Pro 2 Championship chase.

Deegan qualified third in round 6 of Pro Lites. He worked his way into second off the start and when Brandon Arthur crashed in front of him, Deegan found his opening for the lead. Kyle Hart, who would eventually get the win in Pro Lite, edged out Deegan for the lead due to the #38 suffering from a flat on the right rear tire, which forced Deegan to enter the Hot Pits and change it out. When he came back out of the pits there was only enough race left for him to work his way back to seventh.

With two more wins in Pro 2 the #38 Rockstar Energy Drink Team extends its points lead. All the action will broadcast on CBS Sports Network, Sunday June 8 at 8pm Eastern.

Deegan is ready to switch helmets again as he heads to X Games Austin for the Rallycross debut on the Circuit of America racetrack. Deegan’s experience, defensive driving and brute talent will come into play on this incredibly challenging course. X Games Austin will be live on ESPN and ABC June 5-8.
