Andy-McMillin-SCORE-Imperial-Valley-5-6-14
GREENVILLE, SC
– BFGoodrich Tires proved their toughness in the California desert at the inaugural SCORE Imperial Valley 250 as winner after winner rolled across the finish line on BFGoodrich tires.  Andy McMillin, driving BFGoodrich Performance Team member Rob MacCachren’s truck, was the first to finish and claim victory in the Trophy Truck class.  Justin Matney, RPM Offroad owner and Class 1 car driver, finished first in Class 1.

“We had a flawless day, the BFGoodrich Tires worked perfectly in the sand, silt and deep holes,” said Andy McMillin at the finish line after talking to truck owner Rob MacCachren on the phone while he prepared to finish 3rd in Pro4 and 4th in Pro2 at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series that same evening.  “The combination of a great truck with a similar set-up and familiar terrain certainly helped, but the wind made it weird when the truck would catch it and rotate off a turn or jump,” continued McMillin.

“We have yet to change a tire this year,” said Justin Matney after his Class 1 win.  “We won the San Felipe 250 without a tire change and have now backed up that win with today’s IV250 win.  All our RPM Racing vehicles run BFGoodrich Tires, for proven reasons.”

The tire of the winners at today’s inaugural SCORE Imperial Valley 250 race was clearly BFGoodrich Tires.   Trophy Truck podium included Andy McMillin in Rob MacCachren’s truck, Clyde Stacy in second and Steve Sourapas in third.  Class 1 podium included RPM Racing Justin Matney and Lyle Bask in third.  Other BFGoodrich Tires class winners include: Class 3, Chris Wilson.  Class 5-1600, Donald Harper.  Class 8, Noah Ostanik.  Class 12 SCORE Lites, Caleb Sanden.  Trophy Truck Special, Christian Sourapas.  Heavy Metal, Dan Unsicker.  Sportsman 1400 Unlimited Open Truck, Jim Bunn.  Sportsman 2000 Limited Truck, Todd Richards.

With wind-speeds consistently sitting at 30mph and gusts up to 40mph, white-out conditions on course and in the spectator areas was expected on the 82-mile loop race.  That didn’t keep the spectators from coming and enjoying the hospitality at this new race.

“This is an exciting year in our long partnership with SCORE,” said Peter Calhoun, motorsports manager, BFGoodrich Tires. “Not only is the series expanding its presence with additional races, but our partnership will continue to bring more eyes on desert racing with the television package secured through the CBS Sports Network that BFGoodrich is proud to sponsor in an effort to further reach off road enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies.”
