BFGoodrich-Lucas-Oil-MacCachren-3-26-14Chandler, Ariz. – BFGoodrich Tires got a jump on the competition as its drivers claimed  four wins and nine podium finishes this past weekend in two days of action packed racing at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series season opener at Wild Horse Motorsports Park.

The Pro4 class would see a solid run by both BFGoodrich Performance Team member Rob MacCachren and Ricky Johnson in round 1, but luck would not be on their side to claim the top spots.

Johnson charged hard and despite rolling the truck, was still able to take a third place finish in the Pro4 class. Round 2 in the Pro4 race took patience for winner Johnson as he chased down others who made mistakes or had costly mechanical issues that were valuable to Johnson, who took over the lead early on in the race, pulled away from the competition and raced all the way to the checkered flag, taking the win. Johnson goes into Round 3 with the points lead in Pro4. MacCachren would walk away with Fast Lap bragging rights in Sunday’s race.

A stacked field In the Pro2 races made for nail biting racing. Round 1 would have none other than racing legend, Rob MacCachren on the podium after a hard fought race. Making his way from the middle of the pack, MacCachren went tire to tire with the top names in Pro2 and was able to take the first round of the new season.

Round 2 in the Pro2 class would see fellow BFGoodrich Performance Team member Bryce Menzies make an incredible come back. After a DNF in round 1, Menzies started round 2 on the pole using his back up truck and after the green flag dropped he never looked back and brought home his first Pro2 win for 2014.

RJ Anderson will be one to watch this season as the Pro2 rookie laid down some great qualifying times with his BFGoodrich Tires. Anderson would qualify in the top 5 for both rounds of racing. A little more seat time in his No 37 truck and Anderson will be a threat to Pro2 veterans.

ProLites are always the race where you never know what the outcome will be. The stacked class dominated on BFGoodrich Tires. Drivers Sheldon Creed, Justin Smith, RJ Anderson and Prolite rookie, Myles Cheek, were the hotshots in round 2. Creed and Smith battled the entire race for the lead position while Anderson and Cheek were going bumper to bumper for that final podium position. Smith would not be able to complete a clean pass for the lead on Creed and after 14 laps of racing, Creed was able to hold off the hard charging competition and take the win. Second place would go to Smith, with Anderson rounding out the podium in third, but rookie, Myles Cheek would stand on the podium with fellow BFGoodrich teammates and took home the Fast Lap bragging rights on both days. Cheek will be one ProLite driver to watch this year as he also claimed a 2nd place finish in round 1.

“BFGoodrich Tires could not be more excited for the start of the 2014 LOORRS season” stated Peter Calhoun motorsport manager BFGoodrich Tires “to have four wins and sweep a Pro Lite podium speaks volumes not only for the performance of our tires, but also the strength of our partner teams.”

The next stop for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will be in Lake Elsinore, Calif. Teams will have just less than five weeks to prepare to get back on the course and continue their fight for wins and championships.
