Editor’s Note: Rugged Ridge and Omix ADA recently contacted us about a recall for brake lines manufactured by CarFlex Auto Co., LTD. Below is more detailed information on the voluntary recall.
Certain extended brake lines for Jeep CJ, Wrangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee owners manufactured by CarFlex Auto Co., LTD and sold under the Omix-ADA and Rugged Ridge brands between May 4, 2012 and November 22, 2013 are at risk of leaking fluid around the end fittings and possibly rupturing during their expected installed life. This may decrease available braking and increase the risk of an accident.
It’s important to note that this is a precautionary, voluntary, pro-active recall that CarFlex has issued. This product is not manufactured by Omix-ADA, it is supplied to them by an outside company, but Omix-ADA is working with CarFlex to replace, free of charge, anyone’s brake lines that may have been affected. This includes paying for up to .4 hours shop labor/per brake hose replaced (at local prevailing rate) through an installer or a local qualified off-road shop.
