Hesperia, CA – After a very competitive points chase that came down to the last race of the season, Logan Holladay took the Henderson 250 race win but it was PJ Guglielmo who was crowned the 2013 Points Champion.
It would seem difficult to improve on the popular Trophylite Race Series but a new venue and a whole new form of racing will exponentially add to the challenge in 2014. The Trophylite series will go international in 2014 when they compete in the NORRA Mexican 1000. The Trophylite series will run the entire Best in the Desert Series stateside and also venture the entire length of the Baja Peninsula in the Mexican 1000 rally. The Mexican 1000, a non-points race, will seriously challenge the Trophylite racers but also provide an incredible life enriching experience.
Dubbed the “Happiest Race on Earth,” the Mexican 1000 off-road rally was created by Mike Pearlman in 2010. The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, rally cars, a limited number of modern desert racecars, (Trophylite) and classes for pre-runner trucks and buggies. Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970s.
In addition to the desert racing schedule, Trophylite is launching a short course racing series that runs select Lucas Oil Regional series races. Instead of running a single regional series, the Trophylite short course series will compete at six rounds of Lucas regional series races at venues in Arizona and California. Trophylite will crown both a desert and short course champion in 2014.
The expansion of the series has been made possible by its popularity with racers and the strong support from a long list of quality sponsors which is also growing in 2014. General Tire will return as the title sponsor, KC Hilites will be the series sponsor. Others returning to the series this year are Mastercraft Safety, Impact, Method Race Wheels, Azuñia Tequila, Maxima Racing Oils and FOX Shocks.
New sponsors include Metro Honda / Metro Acura, who through their partnership with Trophylite Racing will be awarding a “Hard Charger Award”.
Also Currie Enterprises, Children of the Dirt Apparel, Tanimura & Antle, Baja Junkies and Kreed Eyewear by Fortress. Trophylite racers will benefit from generous prize money and a huge benefits program that includes General Tire Red letter Grabbers, KC Hilites LED lightbars, Impact Safety gear, Kreed Eyewear and bottles of Azuñia Tequila. Other incentives include a custom Azuñia Tequila Oakley Watch and bottle of 2 year old black label Azuñia for the points champion, drawings for free entries to upcoming Best in the Desert events, sets of General Tires and further special bonuses at each event.
In addition to the prize packages, Trophylite racers will benefit from widespread multimedia exposure in video form by 239 films and with professional press releases throughout the year produced by Bink Designs. The newly revised Trophylite.com website has a Race Chat forum to discuss Trophylite topics in Spanish and English, information about upcoming races and additional threads to entertain you and your friends. The site also contains a Trader area where you can purchase or sell your Trophylite Truck. The goal of Trophylite Racing is to provide competitive and affordable desert racing to anyone who has dreamed of competing in the dirt. The formula has proven to be a huge success with racers, sponsors and fans of the series. It has introduced many newcomers to the sport of offroad racing. With the exciting new changes for 2014, it will continue the steady rise it has enjoyed since its inception in 2006.
