Robby-Gordon-Thumb-Stadium-Super-Trucks-11-19-13Las Vegas, NV – Team Toyo racer Robby Gordon won the first-ever Stadium SUPER Trucks Series (SST) Championship last weekend in his Toyo Open Country tires-equipped  #7 SPEED Energy/MAPEI race truck.  The final race was held on a temporary course in the parking lot in front of the landmark Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Friday, November 8.

Toyo Tires-equipped vehicles dominated the heat races, as Team Toyo’s Kyle LeDuc, driving his #99 Monster Energy/Toyo Tires truck, won Heat #1.  At the end of Heat #2, Robby Gordon walked away with the win and closed the margin for the championship against Rob MacCachren.  In the final, Gordon secured the points needed to take the hard fought championship when he finished second on the podium behind first place PJ Jones.

“I was excited to win the SST championship in Las Vegas and put another championship notch on the belt for Toyo Tires.  Being able to build a vision such as this series, to construct these trucks, and then to piece the whole thing together and actually win the championship is pretty rad,” said Gordon.  “It came down to the very last race with Rob MacCachren and myself.  We had an awesome battle throughout the whole season, and it came down to the main event at Caesars Palace.  We couldn’t have a better close-out to the season.”

“We congratulate Robby Gordon on winning the inaugural Stadium SUPER Trucks series, and his third racing championship on Toyo Open Country tires,” said Amy Coleman, senior director of marketing, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.  “We are also proud to be a part of this new series, bringing the spirit and excitement of off-road racing to fans in stadiums, race courses and living rooms across North America.”

The 14-race racing series features evenly-matched 600-horsepower spec trucks competing on specially constructed courses either in stadiums, or on paved street courses with metal ramp jumps.  The only variable for the trucks were their tires.  Gordon’s preference for winning the 2013 championship was Toyo Open Country tires.
