MX-Sports-Logo-11-19-13MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – MX Sports, producer of the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL, is pleased to announce the 2014 Area Qualifier Schedule. Taking place in 32 states throughout the country, a total of 51 Area Qualifiers will run from February through the end of May, in preparation for the Regional Championships and the culmination of it all – the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

The Area Qualifiers serve as the first step in qualifying for the world’s largest and most prestigious amateur motocross championship. The Regional Championships then serve as the next step to seed riders into the National Championship at the Loretta Lynn Ranch. Only riders who finish in a qualifying position at a Regional Championship are eligible to race the National, which takes place July 28 – August 2, 2014.

“It has long been the goal of MX Sports and the AMA to produce a geographically balanced schedule and we’re pleased to announce that most of the rider base lives within 150 miles of an Area Qualifier,” said MX Sports Event Director Tim Cotter. “MX Sports is confident that the 2014 schedule reflects the best organizers and the best facilities in America.”

Many of the country’s premier motocross tracks return to the Area Qualifier schedule once again, including Unadilla MX, Tomahawk and Steel City in the Northeast; South of the Border, Mill Creek MX and Aonia Pass in the Southeast; Baja Acres and Dutch Sports Park in the Mid-East; Byron Motorsports Park and Motozone in the North Central; Thunder Valley and Cycle Ranch in the South Central; the Northwest’s Washougal and Oatfield Raceway; and Arizona Cycle Park, Glen Helen and The Ranch in the Southwest.

“Action Sports Promotions is excited to host a Mid-East Area Qualifier in April of 2014,” said Drew Wolfe of Action Sports Promotions. “It’s been a long time since we’ve hosted an Area Qualifier in 2000 and 2001 and a Regional in 2002 so we are ready to do it all again here at the Action Sports Moto Park in Athens, Ohio.”

In addition to the returning favorites, eight brand new facilities will join the lineup in 2014, including BrierCliff MX in Nashport, Ohio; Wildwood MX in Kentwood, La.; Fast Farms MX Park in Altamont, Tenn.; Bar 2 Bar MX in Maize, Kan.; Indian Hills MX in DuQuoin, Ill.; St. George MX in St. George, Utah; Porterville OHV Park in Porterville, Calif.; and Sleepy Holllow in Fredricksburg, Pa.

“Sleepy Hollow MX Park is honored to host a Loretta Lynn’s Northeast Area Qualifier,” said Sleepy Hollow MX Park Owner Jere Swarr. “The entire Sleepy Hollow family is excited to be a part of this legendary Amateur National Motocross Championship and we’re looking forward to April 12 and 13.”

“With perhaps the most significant venue changes over the past several years, the AMA Area Qualifier schedule includes some of the best race tracks in America,” said AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow. “Both the AMA and MX Sports worked very hard to produce a schedule that is geographically balanced with the best organizers in the country that support the AMA and the AMA’s mission to protect and promote motorcycling.”
