Douglas-Crandon-off-road-9-3-13El Cajon, CA (September 3, 2013) – The Crandon Off-Road World Championships is the one weekend the entire short-course off-road racing marks on their calendar and race teams like Douglas Motorsports bring every additional part possible as the three race weekend carries more weight than any other event during the entire season. Scott Douglas and his #7 AMSOIL Borla Exhaust BFGoodrich Tire PRO-4×4 ran well throughout the weekend that was highlighted with a second place finish in Sunday’s Round 14 race.

The weekend began with the traditional Friday race truck display and parade. The event saw Scott Douglas meet and greet hundreds of off-road racing fans during the morning festivities. Then later in the day practice sessions kicked off all the on track activities. At the completion of the timed sessions, Douglas Motorsports was third quickest in the PRO-4×4 field.

Saturday morning began with starting position qualifying for the Round 13 land rush start. The three lap session saw Douglas, run the second quickest time in the session, only .023 seconds off the top spot.

The eight lap race had the AMSOIL Ford running in third position and really applying pressure on second place when with two laps to go, hard contact from another competitor push the race truck well off the track, losing a handful off positions, ultimately finishing the race in sixth position.

At the end of the race, the powerplant of the race truck was down on power, and the Douglas Motorsports were already in motion preparing for an engine change even before the truck arrived back at the team’s race compound.

After a very long night by Jason Schampers and the team, the white AMSOIL Ford lined up for Sunday’s Round 14 action. The race saw Douglas have a near perfect run crossing the finish in second place.

The crew had only a few hours to prepare the race truck for the weekend ending high-stakes AMSOIL Cup. Once again the Douglas Motorsports crew had the AMSOIL Borla Exhaust BFGoodrich Ford ready well ahead of the event’s driver introduction. The PRO-4×4 / PRO-2WD battle for the battle saw Douglas move through much of the twenty truck field, but ultimately finished fourth overall and the second PRO-4×4 in the finishing order.

“My crew worked their tails off this weekend,” commented Scott Douglas. “Saturday we had a great race going, when another racer just slammed me off the track. My guys did a great job Saturday night replacing the engine, and making more adjustments to get our truck on the podium. The back-up motor was set-up for short track racing, but we ran the best we could and ended up running hard all day, we just came up a little short of our expectations.”

The final race on the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL is September 27-28 in Primm, Wisconsin.
