Scott-Taylor-Crandon-TORC-8-27-13Belvidere, IL – After forty years of off-road racing, Scott Taylor is suiting up for one final time this coming weekend at the Off-Road World Championships in Crandon, Wisconsin. After running a part-time race schedule in 2012, Taylor will be making his first and final start of the 2013 season competing in the AMSOIL CUP. Look for Taylor Racing at their familiar spot in Crandon’s PRO Pit area as the team has a couple of surprises in store during the race weekend.

Scott Taylor has raced buggies and trucks for the last forty years. During that time he has won over eighteen championships behind the wheel of off-road race trucks. The number of buggy championships during the early portion of his career is equally impressive, but due to minimal record keeping the actual number unknown. The number of career race wins is well into the triple digit range, as he competed throughout the United States and Canada. Taylor is also a two-time winner of the BorgWarner Manufacturer’s Challenge Cup (currently the AMSOIL CUP). Simply put there will never be another off-road competitor like Scott Taylor.

“When I started racing a buggy it was just for fun,” noted Scott Taylor. “Myself, Kerry Hopperstad, and a couple of friends thought it would be fun to build a sand rail and maybe go racing. How everything progressed throughout my life has been amazing. I have always had great support from my family, whether it was my mom and dad, and later with my wife Kellie, her parents Wayne and Vonnie Wares, and our kids Hannah and Karlie, without my family none of this would have been possible. This has been one incredible ride.”

During the team’s final weekend at Crandon, the PRO-2WD truck will be driven by Dan McMillin during the two TORC rounds of racing, and then Scott Taylor will suit up for the AMSOIL CUP a final time. One surprise for the Crandon weekend will be the truck’s iconic paint scheme that honors his career during the 90’s.
