Voss-BFGoodrich-8-23-13Jason Voss piloted his trick truck to the overall win at the Best In The Desert “Vegas To Reno” race to capture his second desert race of 2013 and give BFGoodrich Tires its fourth Best In The Desert win of the season.

BFGoodrich Tires brought home all top 10 Trick Truck finishers and 11 of the top 12 overall finishers for another dominating run in desert racing. This season, BFGoodrich has claimed seven total desert race wins.

Voss started 12th after serving a penalty from qualifying and overcame the field of more than 50 unlimited vehicles and the grueling 550 miles in a final time of 9:13:10, more than six minutes ahead of the next finisher. His other win came earlier this year in the Best In The Desert Parker425.

“We had to be patient in the beginning and let the race come to us,” said Voss. “I began to get nervous around mile 250 that the front runners were leaving me in their dust while I was stuck in the dust of some class 1 cars. We decided it was go time and made a run for it, everything fell into place from there.”

Meanwhile, Jesse Jones and Team BFGoodrich Member Bryce Menzies battled each other in an effort to run down Voss. An incident that sent both off course just prior to race mile 400 but Jones in the physical lead but Voss ahead on time.

“We knew that just because we were first on the road, we didn’t have the race won just yet,” said Jones. “Jason Voss had a small timed lead over us and by this point in the race, there was nowhere for us to make up and put time on Voss.”

Another Team BFGoodrich member Rob MacCachren sat out due to illness but his team headed by another Team BFGoodrich member Andy McMillin rolled in fifth overall.
