Cooley-Off-Road-Lucas-Oil-7-2-13Geoffrey Cooley is back on the top of the podium taking the victory in round 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. After finishing third in the points championship and taking the Rookie of the Year title last season, Alumi Craft racer Geoffrey Cooley was looking to make a serious run at a championship in 2013. He started off with a podium and a win but then hit a spell of bad luck. He has been running solidly in the top 5 but that’s not up to his standards.

“Our Competitive Metals / Alumi Craft has the latest technology. With great support from Jackson Motorsports Group, MasterCraft Safety, Impact, Redline Performance, BFGoodrich Tires, Harmon Racing Cells, McDowell Transaxles, FOX Racing Shox, USA Wheel, ProAm, Brink Designs, CBR, Kartek and Bink Designs we expect to be out front,” says Geoffrey, “We started the season out strong but we had some bad luck. Our strategy has changed; we have to go all out for the win.”

Fortunately for Geoffrey, that plays to his strengths. “I feel the most comfortable when I’m driving at the limit,” says Geoffrey, “Our team always puts in a maximum effort but we re-examined a few things and made some changes. Then it becomes a mental thing. You can’t let bad luck get in your head. There are at least five guys in Pro Buggy that can win every time out. If you question yourself and hesitate on the track, you’re going to get beat.”

The debate amongst racers has raged forever; what does it take to win? Most agree it’s hard work, good equipment, making the right split second decisions on the track and sound strategy in the pits. The one thing that is out of your control is lady luck. When your luck goes south there’s not much you can do but work harder, try new things and dig a little deeper.  Fortunately, that’s what Geoffrey Cooley and Alumi Craft racing does best.

Geoffrey will be taking his momentum to Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Ca. July 26-28 for a night race under the lights. The racing goes on after dark to beat the summer heat but it never seems to effect the hot action on the track, don’t miss it!
