hdra_reno-500-6-25-13Reno, NV – Get prepared for the greatest motorsports event of the summer when the HDRA Eldorado Reno 500 returns to the Tahoe-Reno Motorplex, (TRM) July 7-12. Starting on Sunday July 7, the 500 mile course will be available for course prerunning to HDRA Eldorado Reno 500 race teams.

Prerunning, unique in the United States, is just another example of HDRA’s “For Racers… By Racers” philosophy. This includes drivers, co-drivers and bona fide team personnel that are current HDRA members. You Must Register at Wide Open office (see location below) prior to beginning your first pre-run session. Pre-running is FREE to team personnel who are HDRA members! To get to Tahoe-Reno Motorplex (TRM) from Reno, take Interstate 80 East to USA Parkway off-ramp Exit 32. At the end of the off-ramp turn right on USA Parkway and proceed to the Wide Open office at 420 USA Parkway. The office will be on your right.

Come early to the Reno 500 and make a vacation out of it for the whole family. While the racers in the family are prerunning, the rest can take in the many sights, attractions, dining, shopping and casino entertainment available in Tahoe-Reno. The area is also an outdoor paradise; home to many natural and historical sights. The major hotels in town, Eldorado Hotel Resort Casino, Silver Legacy Resort Casino, Harrah’s Reno and Circus Circus Reno will be sponsoring the event and have room specials but they are going fast so book now!

Wednesday, July 10 the Dirt Live Off-road Expo kicks off with music, food and entertainment open to the public. On Thursday July 11, things begin to get into full gear with qualifying time trials for class 1 and Trophy Trucks at TRM. Time trials will also be held for classes with 10 or more entries that are received and paid in full as of 5 pm on Wednesday, July 3rd so get your friends together and fill out your class if you want to qualify for starting positions. Start positions for non-qualifying classes will be determined by blind draw on the Dirt Live Show at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening, July 9th. Dirt Live is streamed internationally on both hdrarace.com and scoreinternational.com websites.

Amber Racing Services will be on site with VP and F&L racing fuels. They will be at main pit Thursday July 18 from 1-5pm and Friday July 19 from 9am-5pm. They can also deliver drums before that if you need fuel for prerunning, call for details. Call Cristy Chavez @ (562) 432-3946 to arrange your pre-orders.

Thursday night, it’s time to party at the Eldorado Hotel Resort Casino. Functions include a Monster Energy Party and several special promotional activities that are open to the public. Additional details will be listed on the HDRA website at: http://www.hdrarace.com

Friday July 12 is jam-packed with entertainment as technical inspection and contingency will be held downtown under the arch on Virginia Street. The race vehicles will be on display all day lined up from the Famous Reno Arch to the Eldorado Hotel Resort Casino and Silver Legacy Resort Casino.

Tech inspectors will travel to each vehicle to make their inspection. Instead of pushing their cars and trucks all day, racers can hang out and talk to the fans, sign autographs or take in one of the LivFast MX Freestyle stunt shows held throughout the day.

Contingency Row will showcase products from off-road’s top suppliers. It’s a great time to view the latest products and ask questions of factory representatives. Commemorative Eldorado Reno 500 event apparel from Magnum Ink will be available for purchase during this event. Friday evening at 6:30 pm mandatory meetings will be held at the Eldorado Hotel Resort Casino for all HDRA Staff, Media, Checkpoint captains and Retrieval crews. At 7:30 pm there will be a mandatory driver’s meeting for all DOR/Co-drivers and Pit captains. Team and family members are welcome if space permits.

Saturday July 12 at 7:30 am Pre-Staging begins for driver/co-driver wristbands and IRC tracker operation verification. At 8:00 am staging by class and at 9:00 am, the race starts. The race will have an 18-hour time limit calculated from when your vehicle leaves the start. The total race distance is 430 Miles for 5-Lap Classes. Single lap mileage is approx. 86 Miles.

The Reno Extreme National AMA Hare and Hound event will be running on a separate course during the Eldorado Reno 500. Bike racers will be scoring AMA points and points towards the World championship and the Dakar Challenge. Spectators had a great show last year as the riders made their way through some brutal uphill terrain at last year’s event.

In 2012 its inaugural year, the Reno 500 caught a few racers by surprise when they discovered how difficult and challenging it really was. Overall race winner Mike Mitchell commented that they should call it the “bone-crusher 500” because of the tough conditions that exist on the course. If you are looking for a challenge, this is it.

Regardless if you are coming as a fan or racer the Reno 500 has something for everyone. Don’t miss out on the fun and challenge, make plans to attend!
