7. Flooring It
Slamming the gas pedal from stop lights will obviously impact fuel economy. This is just common sense, but the more aggressive you are with the gas pedal the more fuel you’ll burn. Being mindful of hard acceleration can help cut down on fuel consumption of your off-road rig.

Replacing your dirty air filter or upgrading to an aftermarket air intake can help improve airflow to the engine and improve fuel economy.

8. Dirty Air Filter
A clean air filter will help ensure air is flowing freely to your engine; a dirty one will make it harder to breath and can in turn reduce fuel economy since your engine will not be running at optimum efficiency. Aside from making sure the air filter is clean, there’s also the option of upgrading to an aftermarket air filter or air intake to improve airflow to the engine. If you do decide to upgrade to an air intake system, just make sure it won’t void emissions for your vehicle (California is one such instance).
