Stock Full Winner Joe Bacal #8115
Joe Bacal was the lone finisher in the Stock Full class, powering his Lexus LX570 to a race time of 19 hours, 56 minutes and 52 seconds – nearly an entire day’s worth of racing. Cancer survivor Bacal made it through the course but felt this year’s 500 might have been tougher than last year’s 1000.
“I think the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 that I drove solo last year for the win was easier,” Bacal said. “This course was really hard. I don’t know what happened but the summit was all blocked up so I decided to rock crawl around 10 people. I cut people off because I didn’t want to get timed out. I’m sorry for those guys but that’s racing. It was an amazing course but extremely challenging and difficult. We did our job and got the win and that’s two in a row. It’s a team effort and we kicked some butt.”
