Scott-Douglas-TORC-4-17-13El Cajon, CA -The 2013 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL saw Douglas Motorsports bring a brand new PRO-4 race truck to the season opening event in Dodge City, Kansas. Scott Douglas and his team have put high expectations on themselves and if the racing in the high plains of Kansas are any indication, the AMSOIL Borla Exhaust BFGoodrich Tire Ford F-150 are the early favorites for the PRO-4×4 Championship.

The offseason not only saw the team designing and building a brand new race truck, but just after the first of the year, Douglas Motorsports moved its operation into a new race facility. The move was completed just in time for the team to head across country for a test session in Primm, Nevada. In 2012, Douglas Motorsports made the move to a Goodwin Competition powerplant and implementing a manual transmission, and the upcoming season will see the new truck depend on King Shocks to handle the varying track conditions of the TORC series.

The weekend at Dodge City saw crew chief Jason Schampers make adjustments during the early practice sessions, which saw Scott Douglas qualify on the front row for the season’s first round of racing. The track at Dodge City Raceway was built within the confines of the high banked clay circle track and was a combination of technical corners and high speed whoops and jumps.

The Friday night event saw the team’s dedicated offseason regiment pay off with a second place finish and taking home the coveted Oakley Bomb Award for the fastest lap of the night.

The eighteen lap event on Saturday saw Douglas really work to earn his spot on the podium. The AMSOIL Borla Exhaust BFGoodrich Tire Ford F-150 overcame slick track conditions and a rollover to battle through the field twice to finish the weekend with back to back second place finishes.

After Saturday night’s finale Scott Douglas commented; “What a weekend. We hit track with our new truck at a new track, we finish on the podium both nights, and we get the Oakley Bomb the first race of the year. Our record shows that Douglas Motorsports is a front runner, but this weekend proved we can be the fastest truck on the track as well. Hats off to my entire crew led by Jason Schampers, and thanks to my spotter Jeff Howe for keeping me focused which really helped me tonight.”

After the first two rounds of the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL, Scott Douglas is one point out of first place in the PRO-4×4 Championship standings. The next weekend of the racing in the TORC series is May 10-11 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
