Shingle Springs, CA – Just days away from the toughest UTV race in the world, the anticipation rises as Jon Crowley and Jagged X have partnered, tested and prepared for an intense battle through the California desert, scaling rock waterfalls and charging major hill climbs aboard their 2013 Polaris RZR XP Orange Madness Limited Edition.

The 5th annual King of the Hammers (KOH) UTV extreme endurance race held on Thursday, February 7th at the Johnson Valley OHV area, will take Jon and his accomplished co-driver, Blake Van de Loo, through 115 miles of body jarring, equipment pounding terrain. The 2013 race course is already touted to be the most grueling course ever created by the King of the Hammers mastermind, Dave Cole; and that’s exactly why both off-road champions, Jon Crowley and the Jagged X team, have combined to make a powerhouse attempt to claim the King of the Hammers title.

After last years’ successful third place finish and fourth overall, in a mostly stock Polaris RZR XP, Jon decided it’s time to go for the crown so he recruited the championship winning Jagged X team for navigation and pit support. Jon’s savvy driving expertise in the rocks and technical terrain, accompanied by Blake’s rock crawling experience and winning navigational prowess, simply make this duo the team to beat.

Jon commented, “My spotter/co-driver, Blake, will be vital to our success this year. We’ll definitely be doing some winching, so Blake’s rock crawling experience will give us an advantage over some of the competition. He also has a lot of experience with field fixes should we damage anything in the rugged terrain.

Our pit strategy will also be key. With 4 pits, Jagged X is the best in the business when it comes to quick pitting. I’m really optimistic about our partnership for this race, I’ve put together a great Polaris RZR XP for this challenge, and Jagged X is all hands onboard to support this effort.”

Even experienced drivers are nothing without great equipment, so Jon has built a rock crushing, desert annihilator, proven to be fast in the open desert terrain, yet nimble over the boulders. The Orange Madness Limited Edition Polaris RZR XP Unlimited class contender features a host of components from engine, suspension to safety products that are tested and tuned specifically to create the best all-around UTV on the planet.

Suspension:
FOX 2.5 Podium-X shocks with Bottom-Out Control have proven during all tests to be a great choice on the Crowley Polaris RZR XP machine. Magnum Offroad’s custom shock valving provides the right combination of control in the fast hard-pounding whoops and sharp-edged bumps while still providing a soft and flexible ride through the rolling rock beds.

Tires and Wheels:
The greater demands of an extreme endurance race like the King of the Hammers warrants larger, tougher tires and wheels to climb over VW Beetle sized boulders and to blaze through sand wash canyons littered with sharp rocks. After testing multiple brands and styles, the 30″ GBC Kanati Mongrel mounted on HiPer Dual Beadlock Wheels put the most power to the ground while providing tough-insurance against flat tires.

Engine:
The Crowley racer is equipped with a strong and reliable Polaris ProStar 900 Twin EFI powerplant, accompanied by Muzzy’s Exhaust, K&N Air Filter and Benchmark Performance’s Head Work Services. An EPI Performance Clutch Kit with expert tuning to marry the CVT to the much larger 30″ tires. While the stock Polaris powerplant puts out a healthy 88hp, rest assured the added modifications have turned the Orange racer into an even stronger, more responsive UTV without sacrificing reliability in such a rigorous race.

Many other top quality components complete the Orange Madness Polaris RZR XP to be a race-ready UTV that any enthusiast would love to drive. Join Jon Crowley and the Jagged X crew in Johnson Valley, CA on February 7th.  Jon will share his build story and let visitors see first hand why the team is so excited for the green flag to drop.
