1944 Willys SAS Jeep
Owned by Jeep Jamboree founder Mark A. Smith, this Willys SAS Jeep was used by the British military to transport SAS (Special Air Service) troops to quickly and quietly attack enemy lines in small, specialized groups. The SAS Willys was mounted with .30-caliber machine guns (often in pairs) to give the two- or three-man crew plenty of firepower. The vehicles were also stripped of any unnecessary weight to make room for cargo, removing windshields, mirrors and sheet metal such as radiator grill elements.
