Another great day for the French-American Eric Vigouroux Racing Team helps confirm yesterday´s performance of second place at the arrival of the second stage of 311 kilometers, the longest of Morocco´s Rally 2012. The Chevrolet Trophy Truck marks an outstanding time only 27 seconds behind the stage winner Holowczyc in his official X-Raid Mini.

“It´s a great satisfaction to see our efforts rewarded,” Vigouroux said at the finish line. “We had to attack hard and take high risks in order to obtain the second best time of this special stage, because in speed sections, 4×4 are untouchable. We had to give our best at each time the terrain was advantageous to our car and avoid all mistakes to stay in track. This is how we were able to reach and take over Holowczyc´s Mini in the dunes today. We even took the lead for some moments and then, once the terrain became fast again, we had to stay back.”

In fact, EVR´s Trophy-Truck speed is limited due to the motor flange imposed by the regulations. This is relatively small comparison to the V8 and the total weight of the Trophy Truck. The result weight/power of the car makes it by far harder compared to the 4×4.

“Gladly, we have not made any mistakes since the beginning of the race,” Vigouroux said. “Alex is always sharp with his notes and I think I can say that our duet has never worked so well in 10 years of common experience, it´s total joy in the cockpit! My other point of satisfaction is the reliability of the car, which is a key factor to success in this discipline.”

Eric and his crew are more motivated than ever to continue this adventure, even if tomorrow´s stage will take place in a sinuous mountain, not the best choice for the Trophy-Truck, but in rally-raid, nothing is known until you reach the finish line!
