CORONA, CALIF. – On a hillside in Western Nevada, the young Sheldon Creed took to the all-new Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series’ (LOORRS) track and dominated Wild West-style just outside of downtown Reno, Nevada in its twin city Sparks. The freshly built grandstands were filled to capacity leaving numerous race fans lining the chain-link, barrier fencing below. Even with the hot weather and dusty winds, the Silver State Showdown brought out a great turnout with over 12,000 race fans at Round 11 & 12 at this first-time destination of the series.

On Saturday at Round 11, Sheldon qualified earlier on Saturday in 1st place and drew a 6th place starting position for the SuperLite main event. Starting in 6th, Creed worked the field one driver at a time and moved into 1st place by lap seven. Soon after attaining the premier position, an untimely mishap happened as the timing belt shredded apart, shot off and took out the crankshaft trigger wire killing the motor, which ended Creed’s race earlier than he and the team would have liked.

On Sunday, 14-year-old driver and points leader Creed qualified 1st in the #74 Super Lite, but knew going into Round 12 that he wanted to stay out of trouble and stay ahead of the competition. A.M. Ortega’s #74 Sheldon Creed proved that he is able to apply his racing skills to any track in a rapid manner when he pulled out of his 4th place starting position, away from the field of SuperLite drivers and led the race to the checkered flag on Sunday.

The #74 A.M. Ortega Pro Lite team made a decision going into the Reno LOORRS race that the truck would remain in the shop in order to be fully prepped and ready to dominate at the Las Vegas rounds. A big thanks goes out to Ryan Hagy and the Papa’s and Beer crew for offering and allowing Sheldon to race the Pro Lite truck on Sunday at Round 12. Sheldon Creed started in 22nd position piloting Ryan Hagy’s Pro Lite truck, moved into a promising 9th place position, then Creed hooked up in a rut sending him into barrel roll during the last lap of the Pro Lite race.

Off-road racing prodigy Sheldon Creed and team will be up-shifting and preparing for Rounds 13 & 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada during the three week Series break. Stay tuned, we will be sure to update on points standings when they become available.
