CORONA, CALIF., – At just 14 years old, Sheldon Creed and his team are leading the points championship in the SuperLite Championship class and looking to strengthen that lead at the upcoming Round 9 & 10 of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Race Series (LOORRS) happening this weekend at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California.

On the SuperLite lineup, there are 15 expected entries with second place following Creed by 1 point. With the support from family and his sponsors, Creed has proved that he is the most consistent competitor in the SuperLite class with 4 round wins proceeded by a 2nd place finish and a 3rd place finish. After an unfortunate flat tire at Round 8 at Miller Motorsports in Tooele, Utah, he managed to pull through and finish the race 2 laps down from the leader in 12th place. Sheldon is not looking back, he is on the gas, head down and reaching towards the target to bring his #74 A.M. Ortega Structural Engineering Contractor-backed SuperLite to a Championship year.

Although Sheldon is aiming for the win for SuperLite, he is very eager for the upcoming Pro Lite rounds at the California track, “In the Pro Lite class, my crew has a Top 5 goal and I’m looking to set the bar a little higher with a podium spot, aiming for Top 3. We have been working really hard and I think with all the effort and testing we’ve put into the new motor, it’s very possible. I’m looking forward to Glen Helen, it’s one of my favorite tracks on the series and I have more seat time there than any of the other tracks. I want to prove myself in the Pro Lite class.”

Recently, the team switched over from a 4-cylinder powertrain to a Dodge V8 spec motor. The previous motor wasn’t giving Sheldon the bite that his driving habits craved, as they found out when they blew up three 4-cylinder motors during testing. The V8 was a feasible choice for Sheldon’s driving style, “In my opinion, it’s faster.” The young gun has one race on the motor so far and is adapting quickly to the change.

This is Sheldon’s rookie year in the Pro Lite class and he has already claimed Top 5 in Pro Lite at each round of LOORRS race action so far. With a field of 26 competitors that are nearly twice Sheldon’s age that’s a huge advantage for the team, practice makes perfect and with Sheldon’s go-hard-or-go-home attitude, the team is pushing for a result that will illustrate just that.

With a testing track 30 minutes away from Sheldon’s residence, he is putting as many test laps down to fine-tune the motor and handle of the pro class race truck. “The team has worked long hours to get my vehicles running right for my racing needs. I’d like to thank my grandparents, mom, dad, A.M. Ortega General Engineering Contractors, Trench Shoring, Fox Racing Shox, Eibach Springs, Method Race Wheels.”

Come out and watch #74 Sheldon Creed battle it out with a stacked field of top off-road racers at Glen Helen Raceway this Saturday and Sunday. Get your tickets at the track or online at http://www.showclix.com/events/255.
