Morgantown, W. Va. (July 3, 2012) – Defending Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series Champion and current Women’s class points leader Maria Forsberg won her second consecutive gold medal in Women’s Moto X Enduro X on Sunday at X Games Los Angeles. GNCC Women’s class competitor Rachel Gutish also grabbed sixth place in her first-ever X Games appearance.

Factory FMF/KTM’s Forsberg started off behind Louise Forsley and Tarah Gieger amidst some carnage and confusion early on. After bouncing back from a few of her own troubles, Forsberg was able to make her way to the front and hold on for the win.

“It’s way harder this year,” Forsberg said. “All the girls have gone home and done their homework and they’re way, way faster, which makes for a good race. I’m pumped for everyone and I’m pumped to be here.”

16-year-old Gutish currently sits fourth in the GNCC Women’s class point standings, finishing as high as second place this season. Congratulations to Gutish for taking home an impressive sixth place finish in Moto X Enduro X.

Defending GNCC XC2 Lites Champion Steward Baylor Jr. pulled the holeshot and led the early parts of the Men’s Moto X Enduro X Heat 3, before running into some issues that put him one position away from qualifying for the Main Event.

WMR/KTM’s Rory Mead—currently third place in XC1 Pro class—put in a solid effort for his first-ever Enduro X encounter, despite not reaching the Main Event
